Man Dies During Running of the Bulls
A man has died during the annual Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. The man was gored to death attempting to escape from the bulls path. This is the first death during this event in more than a decade.
From the BBC:
The man was gored in the neck and lung on Friday, during the fourth bull run of the festival. Three other runners were injured in the incident.
A light-brown bull ploughed into a group of runners and spectators after getting separated from the main pack.
Emergency surgery failed to save the life of one of those gored.
The BBC’s Steve Kingstone in Madrid says the running of the bulls – opposed by animal rights activists – is a defining event in Spanish culture.
