Casey Anthony Appealing Conviction

January 8, 2013

Lawyers for Casey Anthony are back in court in Florida today to appeal her four convictions for lying to the authorities. It seems that Anthony’s lawyers will argue that each of the lies should have been considered one offense.

More details at the link below.

From Reuters:

Anthony, 26, was convicted of lying to lead detective Yuri Melich when she said she left Caylee on or about June 9, 2008, with a nanny named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez at the Sawgrass Apartments in Orlando.

She was also convicted of lying when she claimed she was employed at Universal Studios, had told Universal co-workers that Caylee was missing, and later received a phone call from Caylee.

Casey Anthony Found!

May 21, 2012

Casey Anthony has been flushed out of hiding in Florida. While Anthony has been in hiding for the 10 months since her trial, legal action has continued against her, and she must now return to an Orlando courtroom.

You got served!

From the Huffington Post:

Investigators located Anthony and staked out her new residence for several days while attempting to serve a subpoena relating to an ongoing defamation case, People magazine reported Monday night. The case stems from the initial investigation into the whereabouts of Anthony’s 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. Anthony claimed the girl was kidnapped by a babysitter named Zenaida Gonzalez, a woman she never knew, but who does exist.

Casey Anthony: Defendant Lied About Boyfriend

June 2, 2011

During his testimony, Jeff Hopkins, an alleged “a wealthy suitor”, testified that while he knew Casey Anthony from middle school, her claims of dating him and his introducing her to Zenaida Gonzalez were not true.

From CNN:

Hopkins, 26, said his name wasn’t even Jeffrey Michael Hopkins — the name Anthony had given as a wealthy suitor living in Jacksonville, with a son named Zachary.

Anthony’s mother, Cindy Anthony, previously testified her daughter spoke often about Hopkins, describing him as a former coworker at Universal who had introduced her to Gonzalez, purportedly employed as a nanny for Casey Anthony’s 2-year-old daughter Caylee. The two began dating, Casey Anthony had claimed.

After Caylee went missing June 16, 2008, Casey Anthony stayed away from her parents’ house for weeks, telling her mother she and her daughter were spending time with Hopkins in Jacksonville, Florida, where he lived.

Casey Anthony: Did Father Have an Affair?

March 13, 2010

It looks like we’re about to go through some very interesting times in the saga known as the Anthony family.

According to reports on WFTV, Casey Anthony’s father, George Anthony, had an affair with a woman that lasted the better part of a year and told her that Caylee’s death was an accident.

I haven’t read much more than what posted on Hal Boedeker’s blog this evening (be sure to follow the link below for more) but I’m sure we’ll learn more of the validity of these claims in the coming days.

From The TV Guy:

The alleged mistress “looks a lot like the description George gave detectives of Zanny the nanny,” WFTV anchor Bob Opsahl said. Casey Anthony had said she left her daughter with a nanny named Zanny. Belich’s source said George had modeled his description of Zanny on her sister, down to an Asian-style tattoo on her arm.

George’s affair started shortly after Casey Anthony was arrested, and the woman had two “intimate” photos of George and racy text messages with him that she shared with detectives,  Belich reported.

Casey Anthony: Friend Never Heard of Zenaida Gonzalez

May 22, 2009

Annie Downing, a friend of Casey Anthony, said under oath that she never heard of a nanny Anthony called Zenaida Gonzalez.

From WESH:

As someone close to Casey Anthony, Downing’s testimony contradicts the testimonies of the Anthony family, including Casey, who all claimed they knew “Zanny the Nanny.”

Lawyers for Gonzalez, of Kissimmee, said Downing’s denials help their client prove she had nothing to do with Caylee’s disappearance. But it also damages Casey Anthony’s alibi in the criminal case.

Downing also talked about the ongoing dispute between Casey and Cindy Anthony over who should act as a mother to Caylee.

“Cindy kind of overstepping her bounds, ongoing friction between them,” Downing said.

That friction gives prosecutors an avenue to argue Casey Anthony killed Caylee to get back at Cindy Anthony.
