Court Sentences Joran van der Sloot to 28 Years in Prison

January 13, 2012

Joran van der Sloot has been sentenced to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2010 murder of Stephany Flores, a 21-year-old woman he met at a casino in Lima.

van der Sloot frequently hung his head as the charges were read in court.

From USA Today:

The court, taking into account the time he has spent in jail, says he would be eligible to be freed in June 2038.

The prosecution has requested a 30 years sentence, but the court said it had reduced it by two years because of Van der Sloot’s “sincere confession” that led to a speedy conclusion of the case.

Van der Sloot, 24, pleaded guilty on Thursday to killing of Stephany Flores, 21, last year in a rage at his hotel room in the Peruvian capital.

June 16, 2011

It appears that way!

According to reports, Joran van der Sloot, accused in the murder of a Peruvian woman and thechief suspect in the disappearance and possible murder of Natalee Holloway, has gotten his girlfriend pregnant while in prison.

From Fox News:

van der Sloot’s girlfriend was frequently seeing him for conjugal visits, going to his jail cell to do “chores” and bringing him candy.

His girlfriend reportedly works at the same Peruvian casino where he met Stefany Flores, the woman he is accused of murdering in June 2010.

Ricardo Flores, Stefany’s father, has asked officials at the Miguel Castro Castro Jail to investigate the conjugal visits.

Joran van der Sloot Offers Natalee Holloway Details for Change of Prison

June 13, 2010

It appears that Joran van der Sloot will reveal the location of Natalee Holloway’s body if authorities transfer him to a jail in Aruba.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see if any deal is made. I’m sure that any prison right now would be better than where he is at!

From the New York Daily News:

Joran Van der Sloot, who investigators say confessed to the murder of the 21-year-old Peruvian girl in May, is hoping to escape the South American country by offering up details on the five-year-old cold case of Natalee Holloway.

The 22-year-old, long suspected of murdering the Alabama high school student in 2005, is telling authorities in Lima that he’ll give them the location of her body, if they transfer him to an Aruban prison, according to Radio Netherlands Worldwide.

Van der Sloot is reportedly offering the info because he fears for his life.

“I don’t want to be imprisoned in Peru,” he told police, according to Peru’s El Comercio. “I am afraid I will be killed.”

Joran van der Sloot Arrested in Chile

June 3, 2010

According to an Interpol spokesperson, Natalee Holloway case suspect Joran van der Sloot has been apprehended in Chile in connection with the recent murder of Stephany Flores in Peru.

From the Associated Press:

A Dutch man long suspected in the disappearance of an Alabama teen in Aruba was arrested Thursday in the murder of a young woman in Peru.

Stephany Flores, 21, was killed in a Lima hotel on Sunday, five years to the day after Holloway disappeared.

The suspect, Joran van der Sloot, was escorted by three police officers as he was taken from a dark vehicle into a police office in downtown Santiago, Chile. He made no comment as he entered, walking calmly and without handcuffs as journalists shouted his name. It was not immediately clear where he was picked up.

In Lima, police Gen. Cesar Guardia said the slain woman was found Wednesday in a room at a hotel where van der Sloot had been staying and that she had been seen with the suspect early Sunday, when she was killed.

The killing happened exactly five years after the May 30, 2005, disappearance of Holloway during a high school trip in Aruba, a Dutch Caribbean island where van der Sloot’s late father was a prominent judge.

Joran van der Sloot Dead or Alive?

June 3, 2010

I seriously doubt this to be true…seriously doubt…but I heard a rumor that Joran van der Sloot has been found dead of an apparent suicide in Peru.

I have absolutely NO confirmation of this, other than this short article I saw online. Apparently, there are multiple rumors circulating. Time will tell, right but I think that we’ll eventually chalk this up to a wild rumor. More than likely, he’s on the run from the authorities and eventually they will catch up with him.

From Gateway Pundit:

Some reports say that Joran van der Sloot, longtime suspect in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway five years ago and prime suspect of the brutal stabbing death days ago of 21-year-old Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez, has been found dead near the Peru border after allegedly committing suicide.

Joran van der Sloot Accused of Murder in Peru

June 2, 2010

Joran van der Sloot, who was previously arrested in the 2005 disappearance of teenager Natalee Holloway, is the prime suspect in a weekend murder of a woman in Peru.

From the Associated Press:

Joran van der Sloot is being sought in the Sunday killing of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in a Lima hotel, Criminal police chief Gen. Cesar Guardia told a news conference. He said the suspect fled the country the next day by land to Chile.

The Dutch government said Interpol has issued an international arrest warrant for Van der Sloot.

Guardia said the 22-year-old Dutchman, who was in the country for a poker tournament, appears with the young woman in a video taken at a Lima casino early Sunday.

The victim’s father, Ricardo Flores, told reporters she was killed about 8 a.m. in a hotel room in the upscale Miraflores neighborhood that was splattered with blood, indicating a struggle.

The killing occurred exactly five years after the May 30, 2005, disappearance of Holloway in Aruba, a Dutch Caribbean island.

From Reuters:

Joran Van der Sloot was questioned after student Natalee Holloway went missing during a high school graduation trip in the Dutch Caribbean island five years ago, a case that attracted heavy media attention in the United States. He was not charged due to insufficient evidence.

Now he is wanted in Peru in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores, a Peruvian woman found dead on the floor of a hotel room in Lima on Monday.

“Homicide personnel are convinced, due to the incriminating evidence we’ve found, that this Dutch citizen is the person responsible for killing Stephany Flores,” said Cesar Guardia, head of the Peruvian police crimes unit.

From CBS News:

Aruban prosecutor Peter Blanken, who has been part of the investigation into the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, has learned that Joran van der Sloot is now a suspect in a new murder, that of a 21-year-old woman whose body was found in a hotel room in Lima, Peru. The prosecutor told CBS News that the allegation was a remarkable development and says that he is personally shocked by it.

Early Wednesday morning, Stephany Flores Ramirez was found dead, Peruvian newspaper El Comercio reports, in a hotel room registered under van der Sloot’s name. According to police reports, Ramirez had been brutally stabbed and was found wrapped in a blanket in a pool of blood.
