Rush Limbaugh Hospitalized

December 30, 2009

Popular conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh was rushed to a hospital in Hawaii this afternoon with chest pains. It has not been made clear at this point if he has had a heart attack.

From Reuters:

KITV television station said Limbaugh was in serious condition at Honolulu’s The Queen’s Medical Center after being treated at a hotel by paramedics, citing unnamed sources.

Hospital administration coordinator Wendy Rogers told Reuters she could not comment on the report. Due to patient confidentiality rules, it is up to patients to decide if they want information to be released, she added.

Limbaugh, a popular but controversial voice in American politics, was vacationing in Hawaii at the same time as Democratic President Barack Obama and his family.

From TMZ:

According to the report, Rush was in “serious condition” when he arrived to the hospital.

Attempts to reach a rep for Limbaugh were unsuccessful.

UPDATE #1: TMZ has confirmed paramedics did respond to the Kahala at 2:41 to attend to someone with “chest discomfort.”

UPDATE: 11:29 PM EST — Sources inside the hotel tell TMZ the hotel took drastic measures to get the mystery patient — reported to be Rush Limbaugh — out of the resort without being seen.

We’re told hotel security shut down a wing of the hotel and the guest elevators — the patient was transported using the employee elevator bank.

From Gather.com:

Rush Limbaugh was admitted to a Honolulu hospital with chest pains around 3:00 PM local time today, which was a little before 8:00 PM in his home state of Florida. His condition was reported to be “serious.”

The 58-year old talk-show host was vacationing at the Kahala Hotel, a 345-room luxury resort with its own, private 800′ beach, just 10 minutes from Waikiki.  Paramedics treated him briefly before transporting him by ambulance to Queen’s Medical Center.

Limbaugh’s medical history does not include any known heart attacks. In 2001, he told his listeners that he had lost most of his hearing as a result of an autoimmune inner-ear condition.  This necessitated a surgical procedure to place an electronic device in his skull to restore his hearing.

Comedian Criticized For Limbaugh Remarks

May 11, 2009

The White House, and others, are keeping their distance from entertainer Wanda Sykes  joke comparing commentator Rush Limbaugh to a terrorist.

From CBS News:

It’s a good thing Barack Obama didn’t have comedian Wanda Sykes write the jokes for his White House Correspondents Association dinner speech on Saturday.

While the president’s quips went over fairly well – he joked about his teleprompter use, chief-of-staff Rahm Emanuel’s propensity for profanity, “fresh young face” Arlen Specter and Hillary Clinton offering a kiss after returning from swine-flu infested Mexico – Sykes’ speech has prompted an outpouring of anger from conservatives upset over her comments about right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

Much of the speech, it should be pointed out, involved Sykes poking fun at Mr. Obama and members of his administration. (At one point, she quipped that she didn’t need to see Mr. Obama’s nipples – a reference to shirtless pictures of the president.) But the speech also included shots at Republicans, including Sarah Palin, and at one point veered into a relatively personal and vitriolic attack against Limbaugh.

From Politico:

A friend said McCain had pretty much settled on his selection early this week, and it crystallized in the past few days. Campaign manager Rick Davis flew to McCain’s cabin in Sedona, Ariz., a few days ago to confer, and another meeting about the choice was held with top aides Wednesday.

The news leaked on the third night of the Democratic National Convention, detracting attention from speeches by former President Bill Clinton and the Democratic ticket mate, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware.

McCain’s selection process has been conducted mostly in secret, but officials said he was considering one or more candidates who support abortion rights. The disclosure set off a fracas on the right wing, with talk-show host Rush Limbaugh saying such a selection would destroy the party.

McCain is planning to roll out his vice presidential nominee in three battleground states this weekend, with large-scale rallies planned for Ohio, Pennsylvania and Missouri, according to aides and advisers.

McCain’s choice will be very important in this campaign. Once his choice is announced, we will have our “final four” and the race will officially be in the home stretch. This will be the most important election of our time and it is, and should continue to be, a very tight race. Thoughts?
