David Letterman’s Secret Bedroom

October 8, 2009

According to the New York Daily News, David Letterman kept a secret bedroom atop the Ed Sullivan Theater that he used for his romantic rendezvous with his favorite flings.

From the article:

A Letterman show source dished that he kept a secret bedroom above his set in the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway. “He doesn’t have to come out,” a staffer said. “He has a suite upstairs.”

An ex-“Late Show” staffer said Letterman kept a room insiders dubbed “the bunker” that was open only to his favorite young female underlings.

Letterman, 62, admitted on the air Thursday that he had had several affairs, apparently while dating longtime love Regina Lasko, who he married in March. The two have a son, Harry, 5.

A longtime assistant said he had the ability to cast a spell on the ladies.

Also today in the same article, one of Letterman’s former flings became known to the world.

From the article:

An ex-“Late Show” intern unmasked herself Saturday as one of David Letterman‘s former flings – and sources revealed the randy funnyman keeps a bachelor pad atop the Ed Sullivan Theater.

“I was madly in love with him at the time,” said Holly Hester. “I would have married him. He was hilarious.”

The NYU alum, who it appears went on to become a top Hollywood producer, told TMZ.com that the relationship started in the early ’90s when Letterman called and asked her on a date to the movies.

A year-long, secret romance ensued, she said, until the funnyman called it off because of their age difference.

Outside what is believed to be Hester’s country home in Sebastopol, Calif. – in ritzy Sonoma County – a middle-aged man lashed out at a Daily News reporter last night. “Get the f— out of here. We’re being offered a lot of money for this s—,” he said.

David Letterman Issues Apology

October 6, 2009

David Letterman apologized on the air during his broadcast last night to his wife, Regina, for his revelation last week of his sexual relationships with staff members.

From the New York Times:

Mr. Letterman made the remarks at the start of the taping of his Monday night show on CBS. They were his first public comments since last Thursday when he revealed details of an apparent extortion attempt tied to sexual relationships with his staff members.

The comedian also apologized to his staff, saying, “I’m terribly sorry that I put the staff in that position.” He labeled his mistake as inadvertent because “I just wasn’t thinking ahead.” He thanked the staff for being supportive and for “putting up with something stupid I’ve gotten myself involved in.”

In his monologue, a rueful Mr. Letterman told several jokes related to the incident and the critical reaction to it.

“I got into my car this morning,” Mr. Letterman said, “and even the navigation lady wasn’t speaking to me.”

David Letterman told his “Late Show” audience today that he and longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko got married on March 19.

From MSNBC:

“On Thursday, at 3 p.m., March 19, 2009 at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Montana, I was married to Regina Lasko,” Letterman said. “Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, ‘Well, things are going pretty good, let’s just see what happens in about 10 years….’

“I had avoided getting married pretty good for, like, 23 years, and I — honestly, whether this happened or not — I secretly felt that men who were married admired me … like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I’m saying?”

Letterman and Lasko began dating when she worked on his late-night talk show. The couple welcomed their son, Harry, in 2003.

Letterman was married once before, to college sweetheart Michelle Cook. The marriage lasted seven years.
