Sarah Palin Speaks Out

January 9, 2009

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is still upset over the coverage she received during the presidential campaign. She believes that if she were from a different political party, the her coverage would have much better.

From the Associated Press:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says CBS News anchor Katie Couric and comic actress Tina Fey have been “exploiting” her.

Palin also is questioning whether Caroline Kennedy is getting better treatment from the news media in her quest for a Senate seat than Palin herself received as Republican John McCain’s running mate.

Palin reflected on her campaign for national office in an interview this week with conservative radio talk-show host and filmmaker John Ziegler. Clips are posted on YouTube.

Palin gave Couric a rare interview at the beginning of her campaign, and Fey frequently impersonated Palin on “Saturday Night Live.”

Palin says she thinks there may be a “class issue” involved in the press coverage of Kennedy and her own bid for office.

From ABC News:

In excerpts of a Jan. 5 interview with a conservative filmmaker, Palin unleashed a barrage of criticism at CBS News’ Katie Couric, comedian Tina Fey and the media in general.

In the video clip, which is just over nine minutes long, the former vice presidential candidate told John Ziegler, creator of the upcoming documentary “Media Malpractice,” that she endured lazy reporting, unequal scrutiny and bias from the “mainstream media.”

If she had been a Democrat, Palin said, the media would have “loved” her.

She also appeared to still be angry over reports that she had spent $150,000 of GOP cash on a new wardrobe while she was the party’s VP candidate.

Sarah Palin: New Hampshire in the Great Northwest?

October 16, 2008

Sometimes you have to feel bad for someone when even the simplest of mistakes gets broadcast around the world on the Internet. Sarah Palin drew some boos and cry’s of confusion today while speaking in New Hampshire when she mistakenly claimed that the state was part of the “Great Northwest.” This has the makings of another Saturday Night Live skit with Tina Fey.

From the Huffington Post:

“I like being here,” she told the crowd in Laconia, “because it seems like here and in our last rally too — other parts around this great Northwest — here in New Hampshire you just get it.”

It’s tough video and an innocent mistake, to be sure. But it certainly doesn’t help the preexisting image of Palin as being intellectually incurious. For the record, she hasn’t been in the Northwest for quite a while, if at all while on the trail.

From the Associated Press:

For all her praise of New Hampshire, however, she misspoke about its location, at one point talking about Dover and “other parts of this great Northwest.”

Palin was making her first trip to the state that launched McCain to the GOP presidential nomination but where he now trails Obama in polls. About 1,000 people turned out for her first rally at Dover High School.

Sarah Palin Safe From Witchcraft

September 26, 2008

You’ll have to check out this video of Sarah Palin being blessed in her hometown church three years ago by a Kenyan pastor who prayed for her protection from “witchcraft” as she prepared to seek higher office. The video shows Palin standing before Bishop Thomas Muthee at the Wasilla Assembly of God church, holding her hands open as he asked Jesus Christ to keep her safe from witchcraft.
