From the article:

A bounty hunter who helped Casey Anthony, the mother of a missing 3-year-old Orlando girl, leave jail last month said the world will be shocked by new revelations in the upcoming weeks, FLORIDA TODAY news partner WKMG Local 6 News reports.

Leonard Padilla and missing Caylee Anthony’s grandmother, Cindy, appeared on a national talk show Tuesday night.

Cindy Anthony told CNN’s Nancy Grace that she believes Caylee is still alive despite evidence indicating the child is dead.

“Right now, my gut is that either she is in Texas, Mexico or Puerto Rico,” Anthony said. “I think she is somewhere down there.”

“(Cindy Anthony) is living in total denial,” Padilla said in response to Cindy Anthony’s comment.

Padilla then said in the upcoming weeks, the country will see some revelations in the case.

“When the FBI, who has got some of the finest labs in the world, comes back (with findings), it is going to shock the world over something Lee, Casey and Cindy have known since Wednesday when they released their preliminary findings,” Padilla said.

“And also, the Dumpster located a mile and quarter away from the boyfriend Tony’s home is going to play a big part in this.”

Padilla initially said he believed Casey Anthony and that her daughter was alive. He has since changed his belief and has called the mother a liar.

Casey Anthony, 22, remains jailed on unrelated theft charges after she was charged in mid-July with child neglect and filing a false statement in connection to her missing daughter, Caylee, who was last seen in mid-June.

I don’t foresee any shocking developments in this case. I see Casey Anthony tried and convicted of murder with other members of the family involved in the cover up. I pray that they find Caylee safe and sound but it has been so long, and there has been so much evidence that she is not alive, that I have a hard time believing that she still could be. Time will tell. Thoughts?

Casey Anthony Apparently Turns Down Limited-Immunity Offer

September 2, 2008

It appears that “Tot Mom” Casey Anthony has decided to turn down the limited-immunity deal with the State Attorney’s Office this morning. Anthony was given until 9 a.m. (ET) to take the deal but her attorney, Jose Baez, did not contact the State Attorney’s Office prior to the deadline.

From the Orlando Sentinel:

The limited immunity would have protected her direct statements to investigators. However, any other evidence gathered from her statements is fair game if the case goes to trial.

Finding Caylee Marie Anthony is not a priority for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the girl’s grandmother said this morning on a nationally televised show.

“It’s unfortunate that it’s going to take the average citizen to bring Caylee back to me alive and not the authorities,” Cindy Anthony told NBC‘s Today Show host Matt Lauer.

Cindy Anthony said she still believes her granddaughter was abducted.

“I believe Caylee is with someone Casey had trusted,” she said. “Casey has been betrayed.”

Larry Garrison, an Anthony family spokesman based in Los Angeles, also said he doubt’s law-enforcement’s efforts in locating Caylee Marie, who was last seen June 15.

“I am not confident that the police will come in and help them out,” Garrison told Lauer.

Their comments come after sheriff’s office lead investigator, Sgt. John Allen, told local media that evidence found in the trunk of a car belonging to Caylee’s mother, Casey Anthony, “indicates that there was a dead body…and that that body was Caylee.”

Even as evidence mounts that Florida toddler Caylee Anthony is dead, her grandmother insisted Tuesday that the 3-year-old is alive and that the child’s mother is only guilty of poor judgment and lying.

“I believe Caylee is with someone that [her mother] Casey had trusted,” Cindy Anthony told TODAY co-host Matt Lauer on Tuesday. “And I believe that Casey has been, you know, betrayed.

Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Allen said Sunday that Caylee’s decomposing body was likely in the trunk of Casey Anthony’s car.

Casey Anthony, 22, was released on bail on Aug. 21, but was rearrested on Friday for charges unrelated to Caylee’s disappearance.

Casey Anthony NOT Going Back to Jail

August 30, 2008

In a sudden twist, Casey Anthony, mother of three year old Caylee Anthony, will NOT be going back to jail as was reported yesterday. Bounty Hunter Leonard Padilla said after a meeting earlier today that Anthony can remain free on bond as long as he is convinced she is safe.

From the Associated Press:

A bounty hunter who helped free the mother of a missing Florida toddler said Friday that he won’t try to withdraw her bail after all.

Bounty hunter Leonard Padilla had said a day earlier that he would ask associates to revoke the $500,000 bail they posted for Casey Anthony, 22, last week. That would likely have forced her to return to jail.

He said he had concerns about the safety of Anthony and her family, but those concerns were being addressed after a meeting Friday with Anthony’s attorney, Jose Baez. Both Padilla and Baez declined to discuss the concerns.

Police say Anthony is a person of interest in the disappearance of her daughter, 3-year-old Caylee, who hasn’t been seen since mid-June. Casey Anthony didn’t report her missing until July.

She faces charges of child neglect, obstruction and making false statements.

Hopefully soon we can add a murder charge to the list against her. I hold out hope that they will eventually find Caylee but as each day passes, and evidence emerges, my hopes are dwindling. Thoughts?

FBI: DNA From Trunk Matches Caylee Anthony

August 29, 2008

The news out of Orlando gets sadder and sadder by the hour. Local6 News is reporting that hair samples found in the trunk of Casey Anthony’s car are definitely that of her daughter, Caylee, and the hair samples show signs of decomposition.

From Local6 News:

New FBI DNA results in the case of a missing Orlando girl indicate the girl is most likely dead.

Preliminary air samples taken from the vehicle indicate the foul odor in the car was that of a dead body.

Wednesday, Local 6 reported that evidence removed from a car belonging to Casey Anthony indicated a decomposing body was in the vehicle’s trunk.

Casey Anthony Heading Back to Jail?

August 28, 2008

That’s right! There are reports that the bounty hunter who helped free the mother of missing Caylee Anthony wants his associates to withdraw her bail. Hopefully, they will put her right back where she belongs shortly!

From the Associated Press:

Anthony was freed last Thursday. Her family said that would help find missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony.

But bounty hunter Leonard Padilla says the 22-year-old mother hasn’t cooperated with authorities.

Caylee hasn’t been seen since June but wasn’t reported missing until a month later. Prosecutors say Casey Anthony is a person of interest in her disappearance but she only faces charges of child neglect, obstruction and making false statements.

Detectives were meeting with prosecutors Thursday to discuss FBI lab tests in the case.

From Fox News:

Celebrity bounty hunter Leonard Padilla told FOX that discussions are under way as to whether to take back the $500,000 he and his nephew put up to bail 22-year-old Casey Anthony out of jail last week.

A decision will be made later Thursday.

The star of the National Geographic reality show “Bounty Hunters” flew in from California with his bail bondsman nephew Tony Padilla to post the hefty bond.

He told FOX that the primary reason to revoke it would be for Anthony’s safety. Threats against her and her family have spiked since some preliminary test results reportedly showed evidence of a body in her car, he said.

Anthony hasn’t been communicating since her release, he said — which was also factoring in to the talks.

Report: Caylee Anthony’s Mother Tried to Give Her Up for Adoption

August 27, 2008

According to police reports, Casey Anthony tried to give her missing 3-year-old daughter up for adoption before she was born, but her mother wouldn’t let her.

From CNN:

The 400 pages released by prosecutors this week leave little hope that Caylee Marie Anthony will be found safe.

Her mother says she has been missing since June 9. But, Casey Anthony said she didn’t report it until more than a month later.

Anthony faces charges of child neglect, obstruction and making false statements.

The documents include a poem Anthony wrote on July 7, eight days before she reported her daughter missing: “What is given, Can be taken away. Everyone lies. Everyone dies.” Video Watch what’s included in the court documents »

Prosecutors have called her a person of interest in what is appearing to be a murder case. She was freed last week on $500,000 bail and is on home confinement awaiting trial. Despite searches using divers and cadaver dogs, police have been unable to locate the Orlando girl.

The documents show a pregnant Casey Anthony, who gave birth to Caylee when she was 19, considered offering the child for adoption.

Anthony’s attorney, Jose Baez, had no comment on what the documents said, but did try to prevent them from being released.

This story has been all over the news over the past couple weeks and I hope that it comes to an end soon. As a father of two small children, it has been sad to see what has happened to the Anthony family, and especially sad to what may have happened to Caylee. I hold out hope that they will find her but at this point, it seems very unlikely. Thoughts?
