Casey Anthony Trial Leads to Potential “Caylee’s Law” in Michigan

February 10, 2012

The Casey Anthony trial has prompted a proposed bill in Michigan that would make it a crime to lie or give misleading information to police officials during a criminal investigation.

From MLive:

Michigan prosecutors asked lawmakers to craft the law, said the bills’ sponsor, Rep. John Walsh, R-Livonia. More people have been willing to lie to police, and the law would give law enforcement one more tool to help fight crime, he said.

“It’s a level of disrespect for our police officers and our criminal justice system,” said Walsh. “This will send a very strong message that if you are going to speak to a police officer about a crime you’ve witnessed, you better tell the truth.”

Casey Anthony: If Casey Didn’t Kill Caylee, Who Did?

February 6, 2010

I guess that’s a question that some of you are asking? Not many, though, that I have seen.

There is a very interesting opinion piece on Prime Writer News Network today that talks about this very topic.

The post brings up some very good points that may or may not have been missed by the mainstream media. Why hasn’t Casey Anthony been demanding that the “real” killer be found. Why are her parents not actively looking like so many others have for the “real” killer. Why go after Roy Kronk and not “Zanny the Nanny”? Because he’s real maybe?

This case has had so many twists and turns. It’s obvious that it’s heading for a made for TV movie but I’m just surprised that we haven’t seen a plea deal yet. Is there something that we’re missing? Some evidence that Casey is innocent?

I would say yes if she and her defense team were out looking for the real killer, instead of throwing out some crazy theories. Anyways, be sure to check out the post at the link below and let us know your thoughts.

From the post:

If Casey Anthony is innocent, then why hasn’t she demanded that the murderer of her innocent two year old daughter be found and brought to justice? Wouldn’t the public have expected to see Casey Anthony, at least one time, look into the camera and utter anything regarding the person who murdered her child? Even Susan Smith, knowing that she had drowned her two boys into the unforgiving waters of the John D. Long Lake, had enough wherewithals to feign concern and offer a fake plea for the ‘kidnapper’ to return her children.

How many grieving parents have stared into the cold camera lens of the media begging for information regarding their children’s killer? John Walsh never stopped looking for the killer of his son, Adam. When it was determined that Otis Toole was the perpetrator, John Walsh stood before the camera, tears in his eyes thankful that his son’s murderer had been named.

Casey Anthony: Who’s Running This Circus?

April 23, 2009

Another great post today by The TV Guy, Hal Boedeker discussing the “circus” that is the Casey Anthony story.

It seems that a crime-victims’ advocate believes that George and Cindy Anthony are, in fact, the “ringmasters” of this circus. Well, they’re making the rounds again. A new voicemail also demonstrates Cindy contradicting herself.

Let the circus continue!

From the Orlando Sentinel:

“To me this whole thing with the Anthonys is like a big circus, and George and Cindy are the ringmasters,” Claire Fielding told WFTV-Channel 9. Her daughter, Debbie, was kidnapped and murdered in downtown Orlando nine years ago.

Yet the Anthonys are off the agenda of a homicide victims’ conference next month in Connecticut.

“George Anthony appears to be trying to reinvent himself into another John Walsh,” WFTV’s Kathi Belich said.

The stations yesterday examined how the Anthonys’ comments to “The Early Show” contradicted earlier statements.

WFTV played an audio tape from July in which Cindy Anthony told authorities that she believed Casey was involved in Caylee’s disappearance — and that she didn’t act alone. “Casey had to have had help,” Cindy said then.

WFTV’s Jeff Deal called that comment “startling.” Casey is charged with Caylee’s murder.

Caylee Anthony: FBI Examining Hair Samples

December 18, 2008

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, hair samples found in the bag containing a child’s remains, believed to be Caylee Anthony, were shipped to the FBI’s lab today.

Hopefully, we will have confirmation soon as to who the remains belong to. It has now been one week since the remains were found and it is expected that an announcement will be made before Christmas.

In case I had not mentioned it before, I wanted to say that I am happy for John Walsh’s family that they finally have closure in the case of their son Adam. It has been a long and difficult time for the family and John has been a great crusader for victims everywhere. He is a good man with a good heart and I hope that the announcement made this week will bring some sense of relief to him and everyone else involved.

From the Orlando Sentinel:

However, sheriff’s office spokesman Captain Angelo Nieves would not confirm other items under investigation.

“We know that the court team spoke about a 3-inch piece of bone that would be used during the identification process; we have not provided any identification of items recovered at the scene except for the skull and bag,” Nieves wrote in an e-mail to the Orlando Sentinel. “The sheriff responded to a question on the first day regarding any clothing being present and he replied that there was none at this time, in other words [it is] too early to tell.”

Casey Anthony is Guilty…According to John Walsh

December 17, 2008

UPDATE: The remains have been confirmed to be Caylee Anthony at the news conference today.

An interesting take on the Casey Anthony case from someone who has some experience with a child disappearing and being murdered.

Yesterday, John Walsh finally found his closure when Ottis Toole was named the killer of his son Adam Walsh. Now, Walsh is speaking out about other missing and exploited children, saying that he believes Caylee Anthony’s mother, Casey Anthony, is guilty of the child’s murder.

From Extra:

“This is going to be the best Christmas in 27 years… and Adam will be right there with us. He’s always been our angel and this will be a great Christmas.” The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children advocate is going on the record with “Extra” about other missing people.

“That mother in Florida… I’ve said it from the beginning. My opinion, she murdered her child and that people would be lucky if they ever found her body. Now I think they have. Now they can prosecute her.”

Walsh also helped with the search for Natalee Holloway. “I believe Natalee Holloway is dead and I hope they recover her remains so that they can put her to rest… and I hope that they get justice. I think those three young men in Aruba got away with the murder.”

Adam Walsh Case Closed

December 16, 2008

While we wait in anticipation of the DNA results in the Caylee/Casey Anthony story, police in Hollywood, Florida, say they are closing the 1981 investigation into the abduction and slaying of 6-year-old Adam Walsh.

Hollywood Police Chief Chad Wagner plans to provide details at an afternoon news conference. He will be joined by the boys parents, Reve and John Walsh (of America’s Most Wanted).

From CNN:

The boy’s abduction and slaying 27 years ago put missing children on the national agenda.

Police will name deceased drifter Ottis Toole, a convicted pedophile who died in prison in 1996, as the boy’s suspected killer, a law enforcement source told CNN.

Toole twice confessed to killing the boy — and twice recanted his story, saying he made it up. It could not be learned what, if any, new evidence exists.

Hollywood police chief Chad Wagner plans to provide details at an afternoon news conference. He will be joined by the boy’s parents, John and Reve Walsh, whose son would now be 33.

Adam disappeared from a Sears store across from the Hollywood police station on July 27, 1981. Two weeks later, his severed head was found in a canal 120 miles away. The boy’s body was never recovered, and no one was ever charged in the case.

Walsh turned his grief into action, becoming an early advocate for for missing children and crime victims. Three presidents — Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton — have honored John Walsh for his efforts to safeguard children.

His efforts led to the passage of the federal Missing Children’s Assistance Act of 1984, which established the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

And, his fierce loathing of fugitives, convicts and predators launched a new career as host of the television show “America’s Most Wanted.”

Walsh has long believed Toole killed Adam. Toole died in a prison in 1996, while he was serving a life sentence on unrelated charges.

Toole’s confessions in the Walsh case were questioned by police, because Toole confessed to other murders that police knew he did not commit.
