Casey Anthony: Lee Anthony Takes the Stand…

June 1, 2011

Lee Anthony took the witness stand this morning and told the court about his unsuccessful efforts to find his sister, Casey Anthony, during the month while Caylee went missing.

From Fox News:

Lee Anthony testified on the seventh day of Casey Anthony’s murder trial that he tried to track down his sister at a nightclub, by text messaging and by telephone calls in early July 2008 but was repeatedly unsuccessful.

Brother Lee Anthony was the latest family member to testify in Anthony’s trial. Her mother, Cindy Anthony, broke down in tears on the witness stand Tuesday when prosecutors played a 911 call in which Cindy Anthony reported her granddaughter missing.

Casey Anthony: Cindy Anthony Returns to the Witness Stand; Breaks Down During Testimony

May 31, 2011

Cindy Anthony tried to fight back tears this morning as she described retrieving Caylee Anthony’s favorite doll from a car that prosecutors believe may have held the little girl’s body at some point.

From ABC News:

A distraught Cindy Anthony buried her head in her arms and slumped on the witness stand as she listened to a tape of her daughter, Casey Anthony, calmly tell 911 operators that 2-year-old Caylee, had been missing 31 days.

Casey Anthony can be heard spinning a fresh lie about her daughter’s disappearance on the July 15, 2008 call.

“My daughter’s been missing for the last 31 days. I know who has her. I’ve tried to contact her. I actually received a phone call today…I did get to speak to my daughter for about a moment,” Casey Anthony can be heard saying on the call.

From the Associated Press:

Cindy Anthony testified that the vehicle had a terrible odor after it was retrieved in mid-July 2008 from a towing lot by her husband, George. The Pontiac had been driven by their daughter, Casey Anthony, but the Anthonys hadn’t seen Casey Anthony, nor their granddaughter, 2-year-old Caylee, for several weeks.

In a 911 call, Cindy Anthony described the odor in the car as that of a dead body. But she said Tuesday that it was merely an expression she used and at that moment she didn’t think a body had been in the car.

“I said ‘Oh my gosh. What is wrong with the car?” Cindy Anthony said from the witness stand. “The smell in the car was pretty strong.”

Casey Anthony: Father “Badgered” on Witness Stand

It looks like George Anthony didn’t appreciate the series of questions asked by his daughter’s defense attorney, Jose Baez, while he was on the witness stand.

From CNN:

When Baez attempted to confront George Anthony with statements made in police interviews and his deposition, throwing several different dates and subjects at him at once, Anthony accused the attorney of trying to confuse him. “You’re badgering me,” he stated. “You’re trying to make me upset.”

As Baez pushed him more about when he mowed the lawn, whether he bought new gas cans and why he put tape on the old can if he had the new ones, Anthony snapped back that he and his wife were running on fumes at that point and spending every day searching for their daughter so he does not recall everything he did.

“I’m asking you to treat me with a little respect,” Anthony said, and he would show Baez respect in return.

Judge Perry cut Baez off when he began to ask a question about George and Cindy Anthony being allowed to sit in court during other witnesses’ testimony. “Do not go there,” he warned.

Caylee Anthony Is Alive…According to Her Grandparents

October 22, 2008

12/19 UPDATE: The remains have been confirmed to be Caylee Anthony at the news conference today.

George and Cindy Anthony said on national television this morning that they believe that their granddaughter, Caylee Marie, is still alive. The couple appeared on the Today Show with Meredith Vieira and said that they have not given up hope, despite a first-degree murder indictment against their daughter, Casey Anthony.

UPDATE: Thank you Monica for a better link to the interview.

Sorry, the volume is not the best quality. You’ll have to turn it up to hear the segment.

From the Orlando Sentinel:

George Anthony refused to answer questions about his subpoena to testify in front of a grand jury last week. “I cannot comment,” he said.

Orange County officials announced last week that they think the child is dead and charged Casey Anthony

The evidence that points to a decomposing body in the back of Casey Anthony’s car and traces of chloroform found in the same place have not been released yet to the public. Cindy Anthony thinks it’s all circumstantial and can be disproved.

When Vieira asked George and Cindy if they are in denial about their granddaughter’s death, they said no.

“My granddaughter is still alive,” George Anthony said. “My granddaughter is still out there and we are going to find her.”

Casey Anthony has been in jail since last Tuesday after being arrested on the side of an Orange County freeway. Her parents have not spoken to her since that day. Casey Anthony asked them to remain focused on finding Caylee, and keep the spotlight off of her, Cindy Anthony said to explain the reason they have not visited or spoken to her.
