Young Brothers Found Dead in Wisconsin Car

July 7, 2011

The bodies of 3- and 4-year-old Wisconsin brothers were found in a parked car early this morning. The boyfriend of the children’s mother has been arrested.

From the Associated Press:

The children’s names have not been released and a cause of death has not been determined pending autopsies, said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. He said investigators are treating the case as a double homicide and the boyfriend is their primary suspect.

Police said the boys’ 22-year-old mother arrived at police headquarters Tuesday afternoon and reported she had an altercation involving a knife a day earlier with her 28-year-old boyfriend at their apartment. Police didn’t offer any further details.

Murder Charges Sought in South Carolina Drowning

August 17, 2010

Shaquan Duley has confessed to killing her two young children with her bare hands and driving their bodies into a river.

I saw this on the news last night, and it was one of those stories that just makes you cringe.

From CNN:

Shaquan Duley, 29, told police she smothered her toddler sons at the Trumps Inn motel in Orangeburg by placing her hands over their mouths, Williams said. He added that the children were dead before she put them in their car seats and drove them to the river while “trying to find a way to discard the bodies.”

Williams said Duley is not a hardened criminal, but an angry, upset, unemployed woman who felt she had no way to support her kids.

“She just wanted to get rid of the children, as sad as it may be,” Williams said.

He said Duley had argued with her mother, with whom she lived and who he described as “firm,” the night before the incident.

“I believe she was fed up with her mother telling her she couldn’t take care of her children and she wasn’t taking care of her children,” Williams said.

Man Sought in Murder of Wife, 5 Children

September 21, 2009

Florida authorities are searching for a 33-year-old man after his wife and five children were found dead in their Naples home this weekend.

From CNN:

The bodies of Guerline Damas, 32; Michzach, 9; Marven, 6; Maven, 5; Megan, 3; and Morgan, 11 months, were discovered Saturday, Rambosk said.

Authorities have been unable to locate Mesac Damas, who possibly left the country Friday morning and may be in Haiti, Capt. Chris Roberts of the Collier County sheriff’s department said Sunday at a news conference.

“We don’t see at this point any indication of an individual out in the neighborhoods committing additional crimes or homicides, but certainly we will look at every opportunity,” Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said at an earlier news conference.

There had been a “handful” of domestic disturbance calls to police since 2000 involving the Damas couple, with the latest resulting in the arrest of Mesac Damas in January, Roberts said. Mesac Damas pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor battery against Guerline Damas in June, and Roberts said he does not think Mesac Damas served any jail time for the crime.

“We are still talking to people that knew the family and obviously the ultimate information we need is not so much what happened in the past but what happened when these people died,” Roberts said.

The six bodies were found Saturday at about 6:30 p.m., a day after police had visited the home to check on the family, Roberts said.

Six Dead in Santa Clara Murder Suicide

March 30, 2009

Six people, including three children, were shot and killed and a seventh victim is in critical condition in what Santa Clara police are investigating as a murder-suicide.

It’s amazing to think that this is only a couple of miles from my house and we just drove past this complex yesterday afternoon!

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

The suspected gunman, a man, is believed to be among the dead inside a home on Headen Way in the city’s upscale Rivermark community north of the Montague Expressway, said Santa Clara police Lt. Phil Cooke.

“We do believe this appears to be a family-on-family murder-suicide,” Cooke said.

The identities of the victims weren’t immediately released.

Police were called to the home at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday by a neighbor reporting that a woman was injured outside the home, Cooke said. Officers arrived and found five people dead inside the home, Cooke said. All had been shot.

Two of the dead were men, one of whom was believed to be the gunman, Cooke said. The other slain victims were children, including a boy, a girl and a young teenage girl or young adult woman, police said.

The woman found outside the home had also been shot, Cooke said. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was reported to be in critical condition.

An infant girl found injured at the home died early today, Cooke said.
