October 2, 2008

Finally! According to WESH, Casey Anthony is the first person to be called a suspect in her daughter Caylee’s disappearance.

From the article:

She is the only one who can lead investigators to the truth about what happened to Caylee, who has been missing for 79 days, an agency spokesman said.

Until now, investigators did not call Casey Anthony a suspect, usually calling her a “person of interest.”

But Capt. Angelo Nieves of the sheriff’s office said Casey Anthony is a suspect because of the evidence the agency has received from the FBI indicating there was a high probability that Caylee’s body was in her mother’s truck. He also said she has repeatedly lied to investigators.

“Well, she was the last person to person to see her daughter, and we are continuing to follow up on this information, and granted she would be a suspect,” Nieves said.

Casey Anthony is out on bond on a variety of charges, from child neglect to check fraud. She initially told investigators her daughter was last with a babysitter.

Attorney Jose Baez, Casey Anthony’s attorney, said it doesn’t make a difference whether investigators call her a “person of interest” or a “suspect.” He declined a request for a further interview.

From CNN:

“Casey is a suspect,” said Orange County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Angelo Nieves. “She has been uncooperative, leading investigators down the wrong path and lying to them. She has not provided any credible information about the last time she saw her or where she was left.”

Casey Anthony of Orlando, Florida, was arrested on July 16 on suspicion of telling detectives lies about Caylee’s disappearance. She was released on bail after that arrest and subsequent arrests on unrelated theft charges.

Authorities said weeks ago that evidence suggests Caylee is dead. Investigators found evidence of human decomposition in the trunk of Anthony’s car, authorities have said.

Fox News Goes Inside the Protests at Casey Anthony’s Home

September 9, 2008

I thought that I would share this with everyone who has been watching what has transpired over the past few weeks at Casey Anthony’s home. This is a transcript from “On the Record” with Greta Van Susteren from September 8, 2008.

From Fox News:

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Go, go, go.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Cut it out.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Who are you talking to, you little punk?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Go ahead, get out of here. Get out of here. We live here, you people don’t.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Tell the truth. Tell the truth.

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: Well, in case you didn’t know, that was outside of Caylee Anthony’s home. And we’re going to go to Holly Bristol of WOFL. Holly, what is going on outside that home these days?

HOLLY BRISTOL, WOFL RADIO: Believe it or not, tonight it’s actually been a pretty quiet scene. I’m told that there are actually just two protesters out here earlier tonight. That was Friday night when the things really exploded and that was pretty much-

Things came to a boil between the neighbors out here and protesters. Neighbors say they don’t even feel safe letting their kids come out and ride their bicycles because there have been so many protesters out here in the streets.

And, you know, things have gotten explosive at times. People do have very strong opinions about this story, and a lot of people out here protesting are frustrated that they haven’t seen the family come outside to talk to them. But the family, obviously, doesn’t want anything to do with the chaos out here on the streets–Greta?

VAN SUSTEREN: I understand, though, that people are taunting them though, the protesters. I mean, this is an ongoing investigation and the police have their job to do and the family wants to at least try to have some peace in their homes.

Are the protesters taunting them and provoking them?

BRISTOL: At times, yes. This is the Anthony’s yard behind me, and I don’t know if you can see, but there’s caution tape all over the place. The Anthonys have tried to rope it of so people don’t step on their property and step in their yard. But there seems to be a difference in opinion between the Anthonys and the public as to what is private property and what is public domain, and that pretty much all came to a head on Sunday right before a vigil for Caylee.

George Anthony was out here, and some protesters were up here in the sidewalk, basically. And he asked them to move and asked them to move back, and they didn’t. And, essentially, there was a big shoving match between George and one of the protesters. And right now we’re waiting to see if the state attorney’s office is actually going to be filing criminal charges against George Anthony, because this is a police report that two of the protesters actually filed against George Anthony.

VAN SUSTEREN: What about Casey, the mother, has she started to talk to the police yet, because the police certainly want to hear from her?

BRISTOL: You know, at this point she hasn’t had a one-on-one sit down with police. According to Jose Baez and according to what Casey’s mom has been telling me, they have been forwarding tips to the FBI and to the Orange County sheriff’s office here locally in Florida.

And from what the Anthonys have told me, some of the out-of-state tips are not followed up on. We have tried contacting the FBI, but at this point they don’t really have much to say about the investigation. They’re being pretty tight-lipped about everything at this point.

But as for Casey actually sitting down with investigators, that hasn’t happened, Greta.

VAN SUSTEREN: Which, of course, is the one thing that everyone seems to be pushing for, is Casey Anthony, who is now out of jail for the second time, disturbing news that we keep hearing every day about possible clues, but her toddler still missing.

Holly, thank you very much and, obviously, it’s gotten into a heated point there on at least one night, but, still, no child, missing toddler.

Casey Anthony Once Again Released From Florida Jail

September 5, 2008

It’s like a revolving door down there in Florida right now. As I mentioned yesterday, Casey Anthony, mother of missing 3 year old Caylee Anthony, has been released from the Orange County jail after posting $500,000 bond for the second time. Nancy Grace will no doubt have a field day with this! It’s getting ridiculous. We hear rumors about all of the evidence, yet no charges have been filed as of this date. It makes me wonder what evidence the detectives truly have.

From the Associated Press:

Casey Anthony walked out of the Orange County Jail about 10 a.m. Friday. Anthony was seen wearing an ankle monitoring bracelet and a white T-shirt featuring her 3-year-old daughter.

Detectives say they have evidence that Anthony’s trunk had contained a decomposing body, likely her daughter’s. However, no other charges have been filed against Anthony.

Prosecutors asked for a high bond, hoping Anthony wouldn’t be able to get out. Two local bond agencies posted the bond for her Thursday.

Caylee Anthony: Is A Shocking New Development on the Way?

September 3, 2008

Bounty Hunter Leonard Padilla seems to believe so according to Local 6 News in Florida.

From the article:

A bounty hunter who helped Casey Anthony, the mother of a missing 3-year-old Orlando girl, leave jail last month said the world will be shocked by new revelations in the upcoming weeks, FLORIDA TODAY news partner WKMG Local 6 News reports.

Leonard Padilla and missing Caylee Anthony’s grandmother, Cindy, appeared on a national talk show Tuesday night.

Cindy Anthony told CNN’s Nancy Grace that she believes Caylee is still alive despite evidence indicating the child is dead.

“Right now, my gut is that either she is in Texas, Mexico or Puerto Rico,” Anthony said. “I think she is somewhere down there.”

“(Cindy Anthony) is living in total denial,” Padilla said in response to Cindy Anthony’s comment.

Padilla then said in the upcoming weeks, the country will see some revelations in the case.

“When the FBI, who has got some of the finest labs in the world, comes back (with findings), it is going to shock the world over something Lee, Casey and Cindy have known since Wednesday when they released their preliminary findings,” Padilla said.

“And also, the Dumpster located a mile and quarter away from the boyfriend Tony’s home is going to play a big part in this.”

Padilla initially said he believed Casey Anthony and that her daughter was alive. He has since changed his belief and has called the mother a liar.

Casey Anthony, 22, remains jailed on unrelated theft charges after she was charged in mid-July with child neglect and filing a false statement in connection to her missing daughter, Caylee, who was last seen in mid-June.

I don’t foresee any shocking developments in this case. I see Casey Anthony tried and convicted of murder with other members of the family involved in the cover up. I pray that they find Caylee safe and sound but it has been so long, and there has been so much evidence that she is not alive, that I have a hard time believing that she still could be. Time will tell. Thoughts?
