Country Music Legend and Sausage Maker Jimmy Dean Dies

June 14, 2010

Country music artist and famed sausage maker Jimmy Dean died at his home yesterday at that age of  81.

Sad news which at the same time makes me hungry for a breakfast sausage! Jimmy Dean sausage have always been, and will always be, the best!

RIP Jimmy Dean!

From CNN:

Dean, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, was with his wife, Donna, at the time of his death, which appears to be from natural causes, said R.J. Clark of the Henrico County Police department.

Musically, Dean is best known for his song “Big Bad John,” which made it to No. 1 on both the country and pop charts in 1961 and was honored with a Grammy. His narrative style of song also produced hits like “Little Black Book” and “P.T. 109” — a song about John F. Kennedy’s command in the South Pacific during World War II.

Eggs for Breakfast Helps Adults Lose Weight

August 9, 2008

See, I knew there was a great reason to eat eggs for breakfast!

The International Journal of Obesity recently published a which has found that adults who had two eggs for breakfast lost 65 percent more weight than adults who ate a bagel of approximately the same caloric value. The study confirmed previous research performed by the American College of Nutrition that showed that dieters who ate eggs for breakfast felt more full and consumed fewer calories after the meal.

From the article:

Increased weight loss was not the only benefit for those who ate the egg breakfast. Those dieters reported having more energy than the people who had bagels. The egg-eaters also had a 61 percent greater reduction in body mass index. Both weight loss groups incorporated breakfast into an overall low-calorie diet.

“The increased satiety and energy due to eggs helps people better comply with a reduced-calorie diet,” Nikhil V. Dhurandhar, Ph.D said. Dhurandhar was the lead researcher for the study.
