Did You Catch the Nancy Grace “Nip Slip”?

September 27, 2011

Thank god I didn’t! 🙂

During her Dancing with the Stars routine, Grace spilled out of her brown dress. After ABC quickly cut away to a shot of the audience, Grace readjusted her dress and hid her face in partner Tristan MacManus’ shoulder.

But according to Nancy Grace, it was just an optical illusion. Oh…OK…so that means it didn’t happen?

From Reuters:

If, indeed, Grace avoided a nipple slip, that appears to be news to “Dancing With the Stars” host Tom Bergeron, who cracked following the pair’s performance, “On the European version, that would be perfectly fine.”

Not only did Grace deny that a wardrobe malfunction occurred on Monday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” — she went on to suggest that she wasn’t aware that her wardrobe on the show so far has been particularly revealing.

“I didn’t even understand the joke last week,” Grace said, referring to a comment made by judge Bruno Tonioli. “He said, ‘Oh, you brought the twins?’ and I said ‘Yeah, they’re right over there.’ I didn’t even get it.”

Car Bomb Found in Times Square

May 1, 2010

Police have discovered a car bomb in a Nissan Pathfinder in the heart of New York City this evening. The discovery soon led to the evacuation of Times Square.

At this time, not much else is known but all of the top news stations in the country have gone to breaking news coverage. Conflicting reports of a man who was possibly seen fleeing the scene. Seems those reports are false.

I’m sure there’s more to come, including a press conference with Mayor Bloomberg. Stay tuned!

From the Associated Press:

Police evacuated buildings and cleared streets of thousands of tourists around New York City’s Times Square after finding an apparent car bomb in a parked SUV.

New York City police say a mounted police officer noticed smoke coming from the SUV at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that bomb investigators found propane tanks, powder and an apparent timing device inside the vehicle. The official wasn’t authorized to release the information and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Police evacuated several residential and commercial buildings and cleared several streets of thousands of tourists milling around on a warm Saturday night.

From CNN:

Several blocks around New York’s Times Square were closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic Saturday night after a police officer saw smoke emanating from a box inside a parked car, according to authorities.

New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne told CNN that the shutdown began after a foot patrol officer passed by a Nissan Pathfinder with Connecticut plates on 45th Street between and 7th and 8th Avenues. Browne said the officer noticed a box inside the car with smoke coming out.

Browne said officials at the scene were using a robot to search inside the car. The police department’s public information office said the box and other items found in the search are not confirmed at this time to be a bomb.

From ABC News:

The incident began around 6:35 p.m., when the Fire Department of New York responded to a car fire in the vicinity of 45th Street and 7th Avenue, and because of suspicious characteristics of the vehicle, the police department ESU was notified.

The car was identified as a Nissan Pathfinder with a Connecticut or unmatched license plate.

Bomb techs from the FBI’s New York office were on scene with the NYPD Bomb Squad to aid in the investigation.

Inside the SUV, investigators found three propane cylinders, two five-gallon jerry cans of gasoline, a canister of powder, electrical components and an alarm clock.

From the New York Times:

“It appears to be a car bomb left in a Pathfinder between Seventh and Eighth” Avenues on 45th Street, said Deputy Commissioner Paul J. Browne, the Police Department’s chief spokesman.

The device, he said, contained “explosive elements” that included “propane tanks, some kind of powder, gasoline and a timing device.”

“This is very much an active investigation,” he said.

The police would not say whether they had any suspects, and did not say if they had determined what might have been behind the event.

Adam Lambert Shocks Crowd, Viewers at American Music Awards

November 23, 2009

Adam Lambert did his best impression of Britney Spears and Madonna as he stunned the audience and the millions watching the American Music Awards live on ABC last night with his version of “For Your Entertainment.”

I didn’t watch, but apparently Lambert simulated oral sex with a male dancer, kissed keyboardist Tommy Ratliff, grabbed his crotch and finally, flipped off the crowd.

Sounds like I didn’t miss much 🙂

So…ABC…I wonder how “Disney Friendly” this performance was!

From the New York Daily News:

A hip-thrusting Lambert continued to raise eyebrows by grasping the head of a male backup dancer and pulling him into his gyrating crotch, a move the ABC network choose to cut audio from for some unknown reason.

The shock-and-awe continued with the singer getting his privates grabbed by a tutu-wearing female dancer, as well as him snapping the bikini area of another female’s costume.

If viewer’s mouths weren’t open in shock yet, Lambert had more to come.

Following a quick recovery from a tumble across some scaffolding, Lambert took a break from singing to forcefully play tonsil hockey with a male keyboardist from his band.

With a look of defiance on his face, the singer proceeded to end his jaw-dropping set with the high-pitched wail he became most known for during his “Idol” days.

Marking his satisfaction from his performance, Lambert tweeted after the show, “All hail freedom of expression and artistic integrity. 🙂 fans: I adore u.”

From Reuters:

Millions of viewers saw Lambert simulate oral sex with a back-up dancer, plant a passionate kiss on the mouth of a male keyboard player and gesture to the audience with his middle finger during the closing act of the live music awards show.

Broadcaster ABC cut away from one moment in which Lambert rubbed his crotch for its U.S. West Coast version that aired later on Sunday evening. But by then, the singer’s racy rendition of his debut single “For Your Entertainment” was already on its way to becoming the talking point of the show.

“Female performers have been doing this for years — pushing the envelope about sexuality — and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out,” said Lambert, who publicly declared he was gay after “American Idol” ended in May.

“We’re in 2009; it’s time to take risks, be a little more brave, time to open people’s eyes and if it offends them, then maybe I’m not for them. My goal was not to piss people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom,” the singer, 27, told Rolling Stone magazine after Sunday’s show.

Falcon Heene: Publicity Stunt or the Real Thing?

October 15, 2009

I want to hear from you. Real or fake?

The more I see and hear, the more I feel that this was an elaborate hoax created by a family wanting attention.

Tonight on Larry King Live, more questions were raised by one comment by little Falcon: “You guys said we did this for the show.”

From Fox News:

During a live interview on CNN, Falcon Heene said he heard his family calling his name as he hid in the rafters of their garage. At the time, there was a frantic effort to bring down the balloon safely.

Falcon’s father asked, “Why didn’t you come out?” The boy answered, “You had said we did this for a show.”

After the CNN interview, the father said he didn’t know what his son meant.

The boys’ parents have appeared twice in the ABC reality show “Wife Swap.” The show promoted the Heene family as storm chasers who also “devote their time to scientific experiments that include looking for extraterrestrials and building a research-gathering flying saucer to send into the eye of the storm.”

Richard Heene adamantly has denied the notion that the whole thing was a big publicity stunt.

‘Balloon Boy’ Appeared on Wife Swap

October 15, 2009

I’ve heard quite a few people who believe that this was a hoax. Not sure if I’ll go that far but it’s interesting to note that the family appeared on the ABC show Wife Swap. I actually remember sitting through that episode!

From CNN:

Richard Heene describes himself in his profile as a storm chaser and the host of a documentary series and radio show that investigates
“the mysteries of science.”

The Fort Collins family was also featured on the ABC show “Wife Swap.”

“When the Heene family aren’t chasing storms, they devote their time to scientific experiments that include looking for extraterrestrials and building a research-gathering flying saucer to send into the eye of the storm,” the show’s Web site said.

The flying balloon created a wave of worry after officials believed that one of the Heenes’ sons had climbed inside before it became untethered and flew away. When the helium balloon finally landed, CNN affiliate KMGH-TV reported, no one was aboard.

A neighbor who identified himself as Mark told KMGH that Thursday morning he saw the family outside working on the balloon together.

From Fox News:

The child was identified as Falcon Heene, the son of a Colorado weather-chaser. The boy and his family first appeared on the ABC series “Wife Swap” on Oct. 3, 2008 and was then voted back for the 100th episode of the show, which aired on March 13, 2009.

From the Los Angeles Times:

The experimental balloon that floated over eastern Colorado for more than two hours before landing in a field about 12:45 p.m. PDT reportedly did not contain the 6-year-old boy who was believed to have climbed aboard the craft earlier today.

The boy’s family recently appeared on “Wife Swap,” an ABC reality show.

The Heene familly — which includes storm scientist Richard, his wife, Mayumi, and their three children  — was featured on last fall’s edition of the program, which takes two families with differing values and switches the mothers for a two-week period. They were described in press materials as adventure-loving and werer paired with a more staid family from Connecticut.

Casey Anthony: Jose Baez…The Man Behind the Defense

May 7, 2009

The Miami Herald has taken an interesting and in-depth look at Casey Anthony’s defense lawyer, Jose Baez.

(I can hear the boos from people reading this post…you know who you are) 🙂

As most will know, Casey Anthony is not the first murder suspect Jose Baez has defended but she is most definitely his most famous.

So…I know that many of you are eager to answer the upcoming question…What do you think of Jose Baez? The way he has handled the case?

From the Miami Herald:

From his office down the street from the Osceola County Jail, Baez has worked on several hundred criminal cases conducted in courthouses across Central Florida. This semester he also taught a course in pretrial practice at Florida A&M University’s College of Law in Orlando.

He was a low-profile local attorney, however, until he started working for Anthony. Before that, no one asked him to appear on ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN or to jump aboard Fox TV reporter Geraldo Rivera’s 70-foot ketch for an afternoon of sailing.

Along with the celebrity have come insinuations that Baez is over his head in the Anthony case — sometimes from a law professor or someone like former prosecutor Nancy Grace of Headline News.

Baez, 40, would not be interviewed for this story. His spokesperson issued a statement accusing The Orlando Sentinel of engaging “in a sensationalist persecution of a Hispanic lawyer . . .”

John Madden Retires

April 16, 2009

NBC said John Madden, who has been one pro football’s top broadcast analysts in recent memory, has decided to retire.

Madden hasn’t, in my opinion, been the same over the past couple of years. It seems that a move in networks and a shake up of analyst teams just hasn’t been the best for him and I’m glad to see that he is stepping away from the game. I miss the days of Madden and Pat Summerall calling a game. Those were my glory days growing up!

I’ll miss the excitement that he brings to the booth but I know that there are others who will be able to step into his shoes. One thing that the NFL has is a pleathora of announcers (Chris Berman, Al Michaels, Bob Costas). The NFL will survive 🙂

From the Associated Press:

The 73-year-old Madden has been working for the past three seasons on NBC’s Sunday night NFL game. His last telecast was the Super Bowl between Arizona and Pittsburgh.

Since he left coaching in 1979, the former Oakland Raiders coach has worked as an analyst for all four broadcast networks. His “Madden NFL Football” is the top-selling sports video game of all time.

Madden is reluctant to fly and often traveled to games in a specially-equipped bus. He said in a statement that he still loves all aspects of the job, “but I know this is the right time.”
