Honor Student’s Body Found in River

The body of Phylicia Barnes, a 16-year-old honor student from North Carolina who had been missing since December, has been found in a Maryland river.

From CNN:

Russell Barnes, the girl’s father, said that a female body found in the Susquehanna River in northeast Maryland is that of his daughter, Phylicia Barnes. It was recovered about 40 miles from where she was last seen, in the city of Baltimore.

On Thursday night, Maryland State Police Superintendent Terrence Sheridan and Baltimore Police Commissioner Fred Bealefeld confirmed at a press conference that the body is that of the teenager student from Charlotte, North Carolina.

“All of us, since that fateful day, have been praying and hoping for a different outcome,” said Bealefeld. “But unfortunately, we are here today.”

Phylicia Barnes’ body was one of two found Wednesday in the river — one south and the other north of the Conowingo Dam — state police said.

This is very sad news. The parents were on Nancy Grace last nite as it was being confirmed to be actually her remains. Those are the strangest two parents i have ever seen as they were not acting upset or crying or anything of that nature. To even be on NG in itself is a mind blower to me at such a horrific time. I do not know what is wrong with human beings anymore. I keep asking everyday is it in the water or what? Seems getting on tv is more important than anything else.

Hi *Knight owl*. I watched that Episode too and, I agree, they were very Complacent. I think sometimes that, Family of a Murder Victim are so in Shock that they don’t realize what they’re doing (or not doing) or why. They’re just “in the moment”. Of the countless Footage we’ve all seen on the News of Family and/or Friends talking into a Microphone right after a loved-one’s Murder or tragic Accident, I’ve often found myself saying “God, how can they be so calm?”… Other times, they’re Hysterical… others display violent Anger, and others quickly appear on “Good Morning America” and “Nancy Grace”— Everybody acts differently, and some of them really do make you wonder. Anyway, I’m glad this girl was found and can have a proper Burial, and that her Family at least has this Closure. It’s a shame though. So Young.

They acted very strangely………complacently is a mild word.Something as a parent I cannot find an “ok” spot for no matter how you slice it.
What a goofy world we find ourselves in.
