Casey Anthony: Trial Details Revealed

Judge Belvin Perry revealed new details about Casey Anthony’s murder trial at a hearing today but has still left us hanging on where the jury will be picked from.

We do know that attorneys asked for 30 days notice as to the jury selection venue but the Judge said that he would likely give them just  a week to two weeks’ notice. Sounds fair.

Another bit of news that we learned is that Judge Perry believes that the trial will last approximately eight weeks.

Hmmm….Eight weeks, huh? We’ll see!

From WESH:

Perry said Friday that importing a jury could cost the state $350,000. That figure included meals, housing, laundry, transportation and security.

Perry indicated that the jury may not be housed in Orlando and their location may change from night to night.

Anthony would be transported to the location of the jury selection on a Saturday or Sunday before selection begins, Perry said on Friday.

Well, Good Luck on all of it. Import/Export whatever… Either way it will be a costly process, not to mention the challenges, in general, of trying to find a good balance of people who are willing to go through the lengthy duration of inconveniences, sequestering, and time away from their jobs and families.
I don’t quite understand the last Paragraph— Why does Casey need to be there for the “selection” process?

  5. Molly Says:

casey HAS to present herself in court while the jury selection is in process. the accused is always there while this takes place.

  6. annie Says:

casey anthony has to be everywhere when it comes to coming to court.she was present when she killed her daughter why now the idea of her not being there maybe she will get a chance and tell perry she would like to pick the jury.never know what she will come up with next do we?good luck casey marie tell george marie not to miss the episode of watching you wanting to pick one of the jury okay?justice for caylee and bozo needs to go get another life.

  7. One Op Says:

I see comments that Casey HAS to be present when jury selection is in process.
What is the reason for her being there. Does she have anything to say about anything, for instance maybe she knows one or the other that are being considered, or knows they have known her and have a pre formed opinion of her.

  8. Ina Says:

Will Casey know the names of the jurymembers? Maybe she will be asked if she recognizes any of them? What happens if Casey claims one of the selected jury members is a person she knows, and the selected jury member denies? Would she be able to stall time this way? All kinds of scenario’s come to mind.

  9. Kreuzer33 Says:

Typically, the defendant is present for jury selection. This has been the case in each of the jury’s that I have been seated on…

  10. Honeydog Says:

Well, Thanks for everyone’s answers. It’s obviously a standing Policy and, although I don’t really get it, I suppose rules are rules and they all know what they’re doing.

  11. zelda Says:
