Westboro Baptist Church to Protest Funerals For Arizona Shooting Victims

Seriously? WTF is wrong with these people.

More than a dozen people were shot. Six have died including a 9 year old girl (who was born on September 11, 2001). **Edited for correct year**

Why protest the funerals?

I’ve read in the past that the Westboro Baptist Church is well known for protesting military funerals. I guess I just don’t understand some people…sometimes.

From the Tucson Citizen:

Fred Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church says that God sent the shooter today.

His church also plans on protesting at the funeral of 9 year-old Christina Taylor Greene.

Weird. Why don’t they have some respect for the dead?
The horrible events in Tucson, the man that did the shooting, it is all such a tragedy. And then this Phelps says God sent the shooter. It is hard to imagine what makes those people do what they do.

“Six have died including a 9 year old girl (who was born on September 11, 2011)” I think you mean 2001? Sorry, just saw that, hope you don’t mind.

  3. They garner more attention to their ‘freedom of speech’ cause by protesting the child’s funeral instead of one of the adults. Just like the shooter, their ideology comes first-in their minds that is. JMO

I, too, wrote an article about these zealous frauds. They are a bunch of civil rights lawyers who are hard to fight against.

I hope that there will be people to counter protest against them at these funerals. Many good citizens have formed groups to do just that wherever these idiots go.

According to the Baptist school I graduated from … God gives us free will and does not intervene in our personal/physical decisioning …

If God sent him to kill, then he definitely sent me for this:

I now declare the 11th Commandment:
Thou shalt not be a media whore and mind your own business.

  6. Ina Says:

Though shalt not mind your own business? Weird. 🙂

  7. Ina Says:

Thou! Not that it makes more sense now.

  8. Ina Says:

    Hi lauralie lol 🙂

It seems anymore, no matter the event or subject of the News, some one or some people or some organization is out there to quickly pounce on it for some stupid or deranged political or religious reason, cause an uprise, and create an even worse situation on top of what originally happened. In this case, it is sad and tragic enough— especially for the Victim’s families— and this is the kind of additional grief and dilemma they have to look forward to dealing with. Nobody can leave anything alone anymore… not even innocent death and human feelings. There’s a Protestor for everything. I hate the way this World is sometimes.

  10. This ‘church’ is mostly family members.
They protest many high profile funerals.
On their website they have a counter showing how many days Matthew Shepard “is in Hell”.
They are vile excuses for humans.
They protest the funerals of servicemen killed in combat, they protested at the miner’s funerals, teens who died in crashes, a man murdered in Canada, they just love to embarrass and cause pain to people who lose loved ones.
They take our right to free speech and abuse it hiding behind the name of God.
They also sue people and communities like crazy for any and everything that they can.
I just keep waiting for the old man to die. I keep hoping that his death will at least slow them down. Maybe even teach some of the younger ones that what they are doing is wrong. I doubt it, but I can hope.

Regarding *Psychowatcher’s* comment, THIS is the kind of stuff that there should be LAWS against in this Country, with stiff consequences. This is “Cult” behavior, which should not be permitted to exist. We all know the dangers of this kind of “Leadership” and its Followers and what it is capable of leading to. Why is it that if someone within a crowd at some political event shouts out a negative remark, they’re immediately siezed, handcuffed, and hauled-off to Jail, but groups like this are “entitled” to their “Freedom of Speech”!!
Give me an F’n break. They should all be wiped-out.

  14. Honeydog Says:

HI ZELDA! How are you doing? It’s SO good to see you up there!!

  15. Honeydog Says:

  16. zelda Says:

    Hi Honeydog!!!..love your comments!
    Of course I agree……….
I am better but still have a long haul ahead of me.’

These wackos that follow Phelps are a sorry lot.Preaching hate is nothing new,,,,,,,,,and this goofy group is small potatoes compared to let’s sayyyy…Hitler etc. , Jim jones, etc……..
There are too many of us out here to let it get any bigger……..push will come to shove.
What meat heads………evil is tenacious……….but it never quite makes the grade.
    The bastards………

  17. zelda Says:

Steve> GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sending a ton of positive energy your way. Hold fast.

  18. Honeydog Says:

I understand now from the News that Arizona officials are going to keep these bastards from intruding past 1,000 feet. I also saw on JVM that there’s already a considerable amount of Counter-Protestors formed and ready to take them on. THUMBS UP, but still a damn shame for such a thing to be going on while a little girl is being laid to rest.

“Better” is good, *Zelda*. I’m very glad. Hang in there!

  19. Honeydog Says:

TO THE INJURED AND YOUR FAMILIES, AND TO THOSE WHO LOST LOVED-ONES IN THIS SAD AND SHOCKING TRAGEDY, MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL.
