Not Guilty Plea in Theft Case Surrounding Acid Attack Hoax

Bethany Storro, a Vancouver, Washington woman who admitted to throwing a corrosive liquid on her own face, is expected to plead not guilty to three counts of theft surrounding help she received following the “attack”.

Michael Kite of California sent the woman $1,000 and Anytime Fitness, a gym Storro belonged to, as well as a local Safeway store, both held fundraisers.

From CNN:

After Bethany Storro made up a story that she was attacked on August 30 by an African-American woman, a California resident sent her money, and two businesses held fundraisers to contribute to her treatment, prosecutors said.

The theft counts stem from those donations. In Washington state, theft against a person acting as a good Samaritan is considered an aggravating circumstance.

Two-and-a-half weeks after the incident, police announced the 28-year-old grocery store employee admitted doing the damage herself.

They say Storro bought drain cleaner at a hardware store and applied it to her face with a towel in a park restroom.

She definitely should be held accountable for Ripping-off a lot of kind and generous people, and “go away” for a while.

Wha’d she do THAT for? Maybe she wanted a face reconstruction and if it was damaged enough from being attacked she could get it for free. She admitted doing it but I haven’t read her reason.

    Hi Oneop……And Honydoooooooooooooogieeeeeeeeee.

It may take a very long time to unravel why she did this to herself. Not a simple answer I would suggest.
Certainly not a normal thing to do….

We live in a complex world and sometimes we take the wrong turn with chilling consequences. I would hope mental evaluation would be ordered by the judge in this case.

    Her act was outside reason.
