5.3 Earthquake Hits Off Oregon Coast

The USGS recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 off the coast of Oregon at 9:12 a.m. today with an epicenter nearly 200 miles southwest of Portland.

From KPTV:

The location of the quake was about 85 miles northwest of Coos Bay, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake happened at 9:12 a.m.Staff at the Florence Chamber of Commerce and the Coos Bay Visitors Center said they did not feel the earthquake.

The federal government’s West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center reports the quake was not big enough to generate a tsunami.
