Three Years in Prison For Actor Wesley Snipes

A federal appeals panel in Atlanta has upheld the three-year prison sentence given to actor Wesley Snipes for failure to file taxes.

From E! Online:

The actor was on the wrong end of a federal appeals court’s decision, paving the way for the star to serve a three-year sentence for tax dodging.

If you do the crime…

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta ruled that U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges did not err when he handed the 47-year-old Snipes the maximum term after a jury found him guilty back in 2008

Snipes had hoped to either have the sentence overturned altogether and his conviction dismissed or win a new trial on the grounds of a technicality—that he should have been allowed a hearing to decide whether his trial could be held in New York instead of Florida, where it eventually played out.

He’s a successful Movie Actor, with, I would imagine, enough Money to hire who he needed to help him take care of this, and simply pay-off whatever he owed. Wonder why he didn’t.

  3. Carol in VA Says:

Good morning. I say let him pay a stiff fine and save the jail space for a murderer.

  4. zelda Says:

That is exactly what I was thinking as I read it last night Honeydog.

  5. Honeydog Says:

*Carol in VA*: I gave you the “Thumbs-Up” because it IS a good point— The Prisons are so overcrowded with the “wrong” people. Yet, on the other hand, these Celebrities think they can get away with everything (and ususally do), and I don’t think they should be the Exception to the Rules. They should suffer the same Consequences as the rest of us. Still, good Point/Tough Call.

  6. zelda Says:

That’s the trouble…….we keep riding the fence.
    Not a tough call IMO.
I grade your comment as a “C” honey dog.

  7. Honeydog Says:

HAH!! Is that “C” for “Correct” Zelda??!! LOL!

Well, now we hear that old Lindsay Lohan is only going to serve about 2 Weeks of her 90-Day Sentence…
Why?… Overcrowding. Now SHE should be made to Bunk on the Floor or a Chair or something!

  8. zelda Says:

Hi Honeydog, Yep Lindsay is having a hard time.lol! Who cares?
Ever since she likened her “treatment” by the law to the woman in Iran(or Pakistan,,darn I forget) that was to be stoned I just gave up on her. What a spoiled arrogant person with no idea of personal responsibility.
She has a bad case of “staritis”.
What a train wreck………I don’t have time to suffer fools…do you?
    C was for “clever”. LOL!
