Tomas Berdych Bounces Roger Federer From Wimbledon

Big upset at Wimbledon today as 12th seeded Tomas Berdych has sent top seeded Roger Federer home packing.

Now, if we can just get someone to take down Serena Williams, all will be good 🙂 Venus went home early yesterday after being defeated yesterday!

From the New York Times:

Tomas Berdych, the 12th seed, had finished the unthinkable, serving out a game he called the toughest in his career, in front of the packed house that Federer calls home. Berdych defeated Federer, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, in the Wimbledon quarterfinals.

“It’s amazing,” Berdych said. “To play on this stadium, to play such a great player as Roger is, to come here and be a winner, this is really amazing for me.”

Berdych, a hard-serving 24-year-old from the Czech Republic, had never gotten past the Round of 16 at a major championship until this year. He reached the semifinals at the French Open last month, before losing to Robin Soderling.
