Golden Girls’ Rue McClanahan Dies

Rue McClanahan, best known for her role as Blanche Deveraux on the popular television series “The Golden Girls”, has died at the age of 76.

From People Magazine:

“She passed away at 1 a.m. this morning,” her manager, Barbara Lawrence, tells PEOPLE. She had a massive stroke.”

Lawrence added that at the time of her death Thursday, McClanahan “had her family with her.

    I remember Rue in many Roles throughout the years, and, of course, “Golden Girls” was her Crowning Glory. I know she had gained quite a bit of Weight, and whether or not this contributed to the Stroke, it’s a Shame she had to go this way. A damn-fine Actress, and a real great Lady. RIP.
