Jeremy Shockey Hospitalized; Possible Seizure

New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey was taken to a local hospital earlier today after suffering a possible seizure.

Hopefully he’ll be OK! Not much being reported but I’m sure we’ll hear more later in the day.

From USA Today:

ABC26 Sports and NewOrleans.com are reporting that New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey was hospitalized today after falling ill after a team practice.

They cite a league source saying Shockey was suffering from seizure-like symptoms in the Saints weight room. He reportedly was able to walk on his own power to a waiting ambulance.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune says the team has not confirmed details yet.

From the New York Daily News:

Shockey, who was traded to New Orleans before the 2008 season and won a Super Bowl title with the Saints last season, was rushed to the hospital after suffering what was described as “seizure-like symptoms” during a weight training session during the team’s OTA (Organized Team Activity), according to the reports.

He reportedly was able to walk under his own power to the ambulance.

One Saints player gave this eyewitness account to NewOrleans.com sports reporter Brian Allee-Walsh:

“(Shockey) was shaking and everything, and he was basically out of it for probably a minute or so, but it seemed longer. After he started coming back everything was pretty much all right. He seemed awkward and everything seemed OK after a while. He got up and was walking around.”
