Woman Killed Trying to Leave a KKK Ritual

A woman who was invited to a rural Louisiana campsite for a Ku Klux Klan initiation ritual was shot and killed after she asked to be taken back to town.

Eight people were arrested after authorities found the woman’s body hidden under some brush, on the side of a road several miles from the remote campsite where the initiation was planned.

Investigators found weapons, several flags and six Klan robes at the campsite, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain said in a news release.

Strain said the woman, whose identity was not released, was recruited over the Internet to participate in the ritual and then return to her home state of Oklahoma to find other members for the white supremacist group.

Capt. George Bonnett, a spokesman for the sheriff’s department, said he didn’t know what the initiation involved.

“We haven’t completely sorted out if they finished the initiation,” he said. “I assume that they had started it, but I don’t know if they were finished.”

Seven others — five men and two women from 20 to 30 years old — were charged with obstruction of justice and were held on $500,000 bond at the St. Tammany Parish jail. All eight of the suspects live in neighboring Washington Parish, but Bonnett said he couldn’t immediately identify their hometowns.

  1. Good grief! Great article Kreuzer…I can hardly believe that people are still doing this “secret organization” stuff after all these years! They muct have thought she was a snitch or something.

Why shoot her? Makes me wonder what the initiation procedures were. Were those flags the old Confederate styled ones? I’ve seen many in my area…but, they like to keep people fighting about something all the time, no matter the reason.

It’s pretty scary that stuff like this still goes on. It makes me wonder how some people truly think about having Barack Obama as the next President. There are too many nuts out there who still believe in participating in hateful organizations such as this!

  3. Of course, if you are recruiting people over the Internet, I fail to see how you could remain anonymous. There must be more to this story.

“kreuzer33” how you could link this ridiculous crime to our President Elect
gives me pause. How could it possibly relate? You do understand that any mention
of what you write will be noted and should anything happen to our Pres. Elect, you
would certainly not be left out of the questioning.

The comment was not made to link this to anything of that sort. My thought is that if you look at this type of racist behavior still going on in America today, and the arrest of two white supremacists who were plotting an assassination attempt just a few weeks ago, is downright scary. I voted for Barack Obama and am a strong supporter of his as I believe that he will do a great job bringing change that this nation needs. I just hope that those people out there who may still believe in racism in America do not hold the color of his skin against our President-Elect.
