McCain Aides Don’t Believe He Can Win

It’s beginning to set in that Senator John McCain might not be the next President of the United States in the GOP camp. CNN is reporting that senior aides to the Arizona senator are growing pessimistic about his chances.

From CNN:

According to CNN’s latest projections, Obama has 207 electoral votes and McCain has 135.

In order to win the presidential election, a candidate needs 270 electoral votes.

When asked if they saw a path to victory, two senior McCain aides said no.

Polls are closed in the key battleground states of Florida, North Carolina and Virginia, but the races there are too close to call.

CNN earlier projected that Obama will win Ohio, a key battleground state with 20 electoral votes.

No Republican has won the White House without winning Ohio. Going into the election, polls showed Obama with a 3-point lead there.

Obama and McCain are running a tight race in Indiana as results are tallied in the battleground state.

With about 85 percent of precincts reporting, McCain held a slim lead in the state.
