George Anthony Completes Testimony Against Daughter Casey Anthony

Please note that this post is from 2008. For the most current updates on the Casey Anthony trial, please see my homepage.

Well, he did it. George Anthony left the courtroom this morning after testifying for more than an hour. He and his attorney Mark NeJame would not comment. Before the testimony, George Anthony’s attorney told reporters that his client is there to testify against Casey Anthony for consideration of homicide charges concerning his granddaughter Caylee Marie.

From the Orlando Sentinel:

For the grand jury, State Attorney Lawson Lamar and an assistant state attorney will question witnesses as part of the closed-door proceeding.

Prosecutors today are expected to present the case against Casey Anthony — the mother of missing 3-year-old Caylee Marie — to members of a grand jury who will decide whether she will face more serious charges, possibly murder.

The 22-year-old mother is the main suspect in the disappearance of her daughter, who was reported missing July 15. She told detectives that she last saw Caylee in mid-June when she left the girl with a baby sitter. When Anthony returned later, both Caylee and the baby sitter were gone, she said. Authorities have not been able to find the nanny, and they question whether she exists.

wow, thank you George Anthony; a fine example of a human being doing the right thing. Such a rarity. Americans are proud of what he finally did in appearing before this grand jury. Perhaps now there will be some form of justice for this little girl.

I can’t imagine what he testified about…. perhaps only that Casey is not cooperating, and is holding back on information and/or assisting authorities. Why? Because I keep running into George on the East side of town in his booth trying to raise awareness to find his grandaughter. I’ve talked to him alone on more than a few occasions. I’ve seen the tears in his eyes. He’s convinced she is alive, and that they have consistently been a couple of weeks behind finding her all this time. So when they say he testified “against her”, it doesn’t mean he sat before the Grand Jury and said his daughter killed the baby.

I agree with above comment. Must have been heart wrenching for him to do what he did. But a great man.

I could tell from the very beginning of this whole horrific story that George Anthony was very uncomfortable with what was going on. You could tell when he first appeared in court that he was not happy about having to testify. I respect him for finally coming forward and doing the right thing. It must have been really hard to have put up with the charade for so long. The man is a saint for putting up with Cindy and Casey all his life. There are many men who would have been long gone by now. Hopefully the truth will come out, Casey will be convicted, and George can finally start mourning for his granddaughter which he obviously loved very much.

what are you talking about? i’m sure he loves his wife and daughter very much and i’m also sure he’s not perfect himself. i doubt that what the family was doing was not a charade to any of them except, for casey. any family members especially a mother and father would want to believe their child to the end no matter what the circumstances. casey admittedly denied everything and any knowledge of what had happened to her daughter and of coarse her parents want to believe that and would, at least for as long as they could. it’s only natural and that would have also meant that there was still hope that their grand daughter was still alive to top it off. cindy might annoy people that watch the news but she is casey’s mother and most mothers would stand up for their children especially if there child was denying any wrong doing. imagine having to be in her place. so people should not be so critical of the family especially if you would want respect and empathy in tough times in your own’s different when you are watching from an outsiders perspective and have no emotional attachment to the people involved. emotional attachments change the way a person perceives things. they’re doing the best they can while living a nightmare. people have a hard enough time facing the truth when there is evidence to things such as their husbands or wives cheating on them or their child cheating on a test…

we all know Casey killed Caylee, but how long did it take George Anthony to notice his grandaughter missing. Casey waited a month, but Georege didn’t notice either? or did i miss something, with normal parents, Casey’s mom and dad should have notice Caylee missing days after the murder.
