Casey Anthony Pleads the Fifth…

Disguised in sunglasses and a Philadelphia Phillies baseball hat, Casey Anthony was deposed over the weekend for a civil lawsuit that accuses of her ruining the reputation of Zenaida Gonzalez.

During the deposition, Anthony invoked her 5th-Amendment right.

Casey Anthony invoked the Fifth Amendment in video deposition this morning from an undisclosed remote location in Florida, according to her civil attorney Charles Greene.

The deposition is for the defamation case brought against her by Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, the woman who shared a name with the fictional nanny Anthony claimed abducted her daughter, Caylee.

Anthony wore in large sunglasses and a Philadelphia Phillies baseball cap during the video conferencing, according to The Associated Press.

Casey Anthony: Attorney Subject of Bar Complaints

The Florida Bar plans to pursue two complaints filed against Jose Baez. The details of what led to these complaints have not been disclosed publicly, but it’s been speculated that they stem from Baez’s representation of Casey Anthony.

It is not exactly clear what the two complaints involve, but they do cover Baez’s representation of Casey Anthony, according to Francine Walker with the Bar.

On Tuesday, Baez issued a statement saying there is nothing new regarding his two complaints because they are still pending.

“I look forward to the Florida Bar investigating these matters because they, like the many others that came before them, have no merit,” Baez said in a statement emailed to the Sentinel.

“When an attorney takes on an unpopular cause, especially one in the spotlight, he or she will face criticism,” Baez added. “It is a small price to pay for our individual rights under our criminal justice system.”

Casey Anthony: Defense Team to Re-Examine Key Evidence

IT appears that both sides have reached an agreement for Casey Anthony’s defense lawyers to re-examine key pieces of scientific evidence.

Court documents filed on Tuesday show arrangements have been made to send the evidence off for further examination by forensic experts hired by Anthony’s defense team.

“Coffin flies” collected from Anthony’s car and the Suburban Drive crime scene where Caylee Anthony’s remains were found will be looked at by entomologist Dr. Tim Huntington.

Prosecutors are expected to argue that the insects, which feed on decomposing bodies, create a scientific link between the Anthony’s car and the crime scene where the remains were dumped.

Casey Anthony: Trial Date Set For October 12

It’s been announced today that Casey Anthony will go on trial in October on a charge of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie.

Wow! October 12. Such a long time to have to wait. Thoughts?

Casey Anthony’s first-degree murder trial has been tentatively set for Oct. 12.

She is accused of killing her daughter, Caylee, whose remains were found in the woods in Orlando last December, six months after she disappeared.

Circuit Judge Stan Strickland also agreed to temporarily stop the public release of a jailhouse video of Casey Anthony reacting to news that Caylee’s remains had been found until her defense attorney can view the video.

Casey Anthony claimed that Caylee was kidnapped by a baby sitter and has pleaded not guilty. Hundreds of volunteers had helped search for Caylee after she was reported missing over the summer.

UPDATE: Casey Anthony murder trial set for October 12.

Casey Anthony‘s defense attorney will be asking a judge this afternoon to block release of personal photos he says could embarrass the 22-year-old murder suspect.

The hearing is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. before Circuit Judge Stan Strickland.

Anthony is charged with killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie.

Attorney Jose Baez filed a request last week to keep the pictures from Anthony’s account on Photo bucket.com, an online photo-sharing Web site, from being released with other evidence to reporters.

His request does not describe why the images would embarrass Anthony. But the images reporters found on the Web site last year included dozens of pictures showing Anthony partying with friends.

Her attorney said the photos are irrelevant to the case and he proposed that prosecutors release only images they plan to use at trial and keep the remainder private.

In an email to the media this weekend, Baez’s spokeswoman said the attorney intends to make himself available to reporters with a a brief statement and possibly answer some questions after today’s hearing. But he would not answer questions before the hearing because he would be busy preparing for court, she said.
