Casey Anthony: Civil Trial Delayed Until 2013

The civil trial against Casey Anthony has been delayed until January of next year. Circuit Judge Lisa T. Munyon re-set the trial after Zenaida Gonzalez’s lawyer notified the court of a conflict with a previously scheduled case in Duval County.

According to CBS affiliate WKMG, Judge Lisa Munyon announced Tuesday that the case, filed by Zenaida Gonzales against Anthony, will be pushed back until Jan. 2, 2013.

Attorneys on both sides of the case had been asking to delay the trial scheduled to begin in April, partially due to conflicts with other clients, according to WKMG.

Casey Anthony: Baptism in her Future?

Casey Anthony, who was found not guilty of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, plans to be baptized sometime this month. This will be part of her “transition” to a new, post-trial life.

According to an insider, Anthony, 26, wanted to do something to signify a new beginning in her life.

“Casey has planned to get baptized sometime this month,” an insider exclusively told RadarOnline.com.

“She figured getting baptized would be the best way start this new chapter in her life. It’s a new beginning.”

 

Cat Falls 19 Stories…and Lives!

According to animal rescue officials in Boston, Sugar, a white furry cat, plunged 19 floors from a window in a high-rise building…and lived!

A woman in the West End building said she saw a “white streak” go by her window early Wednesday afternoon and then saw Sugar after she hit the ground, said Mike Brammer, assistant manager of the animal rescue services department at the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

“You could see the impact crater where she actually did hit the ground and she actually lost some fur in the hole, too,” Brammer said.

 The cat’s small landing spot is surrounded by brick and concrete.

“Whether cats can sometimes aim, so if it did it itself or if it was a combination of luck or both … it managed to hit that small patch of mulch, so it was very soft ground,” he said.

France Shooting Suspect Killed in Raid

A 23-year-old gunman who said al Qaeda inspired him to kill seven people in France died this morning as he scrambled out of a ground-floor window during a gun fight with police.

After the shooter’s death, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said everything had been done to bring him to justice alive.

The French police siege to capture a suspected al Qaeda-trained militant came to a bloody end Thursday morning when commandos shot Mohammed Merah in the head as he fired wildly back at them, authorities said.

Merah emerged from a bathroom in his apartment and fired more than 30 shots at police as they burst in to end a standoff that had lasted more than 31 hours, Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said.

He jumped out a window, still shooting, and was found dead on the ground, Interior Minister Claude Gueant said.

Two police officers were injured in the raid, Gueant said.

Merah had only two bullets left in his gun when he was killed, Molins said.
