Mark McGwire Admits Steroid Use
Shocking! OK, not really but I’m glad that he finally came clean!
Growing up during the “Steroid Era”, players like McGwire, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa and so many others were my idols, my heroes. It’s a shame that their legacy will be forever tarnished.
To the rest of you, and you know who you are, come clean! For the integrity of the game and the fans!
From the Associated Press:
“I wish I had never touched steroids,” McGwire said in a statement. “It was foolish and it was a mistake. I truly apologize. Looking back, I wish I had never played during the steroid era.”
McGwire also used human growth hormone, a person close to McGwire said, speaking on condition of anonymity because McGwire didn’t include that detail in his statement.
McGwire’s decision to admit using steroids was prompted by his decision to become hitting coach of the St. Louis Cardinals, his final big league team. Tony La Russa, McGwire’s manager in Oakland and St. Louis, has been among McGwire’s biggest supporters and thinks returning to the field can restore the former slugger’s reputation.
“I never knew when, but I always knew this day would come,” McGwire said. “It’s time for me to talk about the past and to confirm what people have suspected.”

I just don’t get it. Aside from other Team-members, don’t at least the Head-Honchos around these Players in Professional Sports notice anything?? C’mon for God’s sake!.. “GROWTH” Hormones! I think they just simply look the other way— Rather let ‘em all Be, than to jeopardize the Games. Right.. So much for Integrity and our great All-American treasures.

OHHHHHHHHHH, that has been gone for many years. Not being a sports person so to speak, I don’t have instant recall on who when and where but it seems to me we have been hearing of”the lack of integrity” in sports for ages.
It’s always a disappointment when another icon falls. So much for “heros” for the kids to emulate.
“Follow the money ” seems to apply once again.

Yes *Zelda*, I know— Between the Steroid-use, Bong-smoking, Sexual-assaults, Rape-allegations, Animal-cruelty, Bat-loading, Game-fixing, Pay-offs, etc, etc…. it’s downright shameful.
