Teen Girl Killed by Amtrak Train
An Amtrak train traveling from New York to Washington D.C. struck and killed a 14-year-old girl early this morning.
From CNN:
Details on how the accident occurred were not immediately available, and the girl was not named. Baltimore County Police Lt. Robert McCullough said there were other children at the scene who knew the victim.
Nearly two hours after the fatality occurred, emergency management officials in Washington announced that one out of four railroad tracks between Washington and Maryland had been “cleared for reduced speed service.”
Amtrak spokeswoman Tracy Connell said trains were traveling in both directions but had to take turns using the single set of tracks.
