Casey Anthony: Is Chloroform the “Smoking Gun”
Nice piece by Hal Boedeker today discussing the newly released evidence which was made public last Friday.
Looks like many experts are looking at the chloroform evidence as the smoking gun that will put a needle in Casey Anthony’s arm.
I think that the key here is that if Casey is guilty of this terrible crime, it is the chloroform evidence which demonstrates that this was a premeditated murder.

Chloroform evidence “could be the closest thing we’ve seen to a smoking gun so far,” WESH anchor Martha Sugalski said in introducing a report.
Reporter Bob Kealing turned to Orlando defense attorney Richard Hornsby for analysis about the evidence. Hornsby focused on a syringe, with traces of chloroform, found near Caylee’s remains and on coffin flies found in Anthony’s car.
“I now understand why the state attorney is seeking the death penalty,” Hornsby said. “You have the premeditation filled in. You have the cause of death filled in.”
He described the chloroform as “the smoking gun, it’s the nail in the coffin” and the duct tape found on Caylee’s remains as the impetus for imposition of the death penalty.

It was very hard on me to read the docs. The thought of Caylee suffering like she did is horrifying to me. I wasn’t able to read much but I know that I need to see this through, not just for Caylee but for all the little ones that have suffered and those that still are.

John, I do not think Chloroform it is the smoking gun!
Wouldn’t they have to know where it was purchased from and that Casey made the purchase?

I think Cloroform in the syringe, duct tape as well are the smoking guns in this case. I fully believe at trial we will find out they both have Casey Marie Anthony’s fingerprints on them. Law enforcement has done an outstanding job on putting the pieces of the puzzle together in this case and have worked tirelessly and endlessly on Caylee’s behalf to bring and assure full justice for her. From the body farm to the Scientist doing bug testing and all in between have given prosecutor’s a winning hand they can present to juror’s that will end up ensuring Casey will get the death penalty. I salute them all for their never waving effort and for a job very well done. The have done Caylee proud.

Hi Kim, good to see you. I feel just like you do about Caylee suffering. Casey is a bigger monster than we could ever have imagined. She will get hers and every fiber in me after these last developments tell me she will get the death penalty by unanimous jury vote. This is a winning hand for prosecutor’s but we have not seen their whole hand yet and that hand i just know has casey’s fingerprints on it.

Knight Owl, I agree with you 100%. Personally I don’t need the chloroform evidence, we have so much as it is! But, I guess for those who need to see yet another direct link to Casey, there you have it. I think Casey will get the Death Penalty and that is as it should be. Congratulation to Caylee’s angels in LE for their excellent work!

I have to agree with both of you..I don’t think that LE has shown all that it has. I am sure there will be some surprises along the way.

Since there was traces of testosterone present in the chloroform mixture, the defense will try to say that an unknown male murdered Caylee. I hope they found fingerprints on the syringe. If Casey’s, it should seal this case.

Hi Bees, thanks, were right i just know it. I too didn’t need the chloroform either to know Casey did it but the more frosting on Casey’s death cake to seal the deal works for me.

Snoopysleuth, Is there still a chance they have fingerprint on the duct tape.
If so and also on syringe, then I certainly would agree, it is the end! I believe fingerprints are exactly what they will hold as last evidence. I just hope it is not one of those “the glove don’t fit” endings.

Hi Snoopy, yes i would expect nothing more than the defense is going to try to use the testosterone as to implicate a man did it, however, i am not worried about that as i know prosecutor’s have that covered as well in evidence we don’t know yet. I fully believe the State has Casey in a four cornered box with no exit door. she is toast~~ Score 1 for Caylee, 0 for Casey.

If Baez had anyway of defending Casey he is too lazy to do the leg work. He is not a put some sweat in it and get it done kind a guy but a Whiner instead. This is another way Casey screwed herself.

OneOp~~I really don’t think they found any prints on the duct tape. If they did, they would only be partial ones. Hopefully, there will be some on the syringe. They found traces of chloroform on Caylee’s Mama doll and also in the coffin flies that were in the trunk.
If Casey’s prints are on the syringe and along with the duct tape, we are looking at a death penalty.

I fully believe our little Caylee has lot’s of Angel’s, not just all of us that want justice for her and love her, but ones we aren’t able to see fighting for her. It has to be true as what were the odds all of this evidence including her skull of all things and the duct tape still in place would be found after a hurricane blew in and so much under water for all those months.

The reports also state that a doll found in Casey’s white 1998 Pontiac Sunfire GT had “faint yellowish stains” on the front and back of the white clothing it was dressed in. In addition, slight traces of chloroform residue were found on the doll.

I honestly don’t think it will matter at all if Casey’s Fingerprints are not on the Syringe, or on the Duct Tape— Previous Links have already been established for the Tape long before the the “Contamination” Episode, and although alot of the Evidence in this Case is considered “Circumstanial”, it is not only significantly Overwhelming overall, but a known Fact that it is often much Stronger than “Direct” Evidence, and many a Conviction has been made as a Result. With the Chloroform
“Searches”, it being in the Car-Trunk, and on the Doll, it presents its own Link— Fingerprints or not. Pretty Impossible to “Explain” on The Defense’s part. As for the “Testosterone”, that’s a little Baffling, but a few of the Experts on the News Coverage suspect that Casey simply took the Bottle of Gatorade (with Testosterone already in it), and the Syringe, from someone she knew was using it, then added the Chloroform she had made-up according to the Computer Instructions. Also remember that Casey herself had made a Reference to Chloroform during her Conversation with Leonard Padilla’s Assistant, Tracy— and that’s already on Audio Tape. I’m sure we can Count-on The Defense trying to now Run with the “Some Body-Builder Out-there” Theory, but I whole-heartedly Believe it’s not gonna Fly. With this new Evidence, not only is there an Incredible amount of other Evidence pointing to Casey, but she’s also “Locked-into” the “Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzales Kidnapping Story”, which presents a major Conflicting Issue, as well as the Fact— and the very Bottom-Line— that she didn’t Report her Daughter Missing for over a Month. With so much Transparency, a Jury is going to have little problem seeing right through it. I do think, if there’s a “Smoking Gun” at all, this is pretty darn “Smokey”.

It’s interesting that some people want more and more by way of proof, smoking gun, or whatever in this case in order to believe Casey is the culprit.
So much strong evidence accumulated early in the case. But some refused to accept Casey as killer without a body, and now some are still holding out for fingerprints.
Some will not be satisfied until confession or video of the act!!
Are so many so incredulous concerning Casey? Because she’s the mother, young, so much potentially going for her…that another really ugly, scarred, drugged up, baaad person had to be responsible??
Perhaps a good question would be: When was the FIRST smoking gun in this case? Because there’s been several…

Ideas, i think the majority from the get go knew Casey was guilty as sin just for the obvious reasons listening to her lies talking with LE. Fingerprints i personaly would not need to convict her as a juror but i am sure there may be some just like your saying that will need the whole ball of wax and if that is what they will need to see what Casey really is and has done to Caylee, i do believe it will be provided for them at trial.

*KNIGHTOWL*… Yeah, like the Scott Peterson Case— Nobody “Saw” him kill Lacy, No Fingerprints on anything, a Ton of “Circumstantial” Evidence, and only One “Smoking Gun”… one Hair, belonging to Lacy, found in the Carpet of his Boat (Of course Amber Fry provided the “Motive”, but the State is not Required to Prove Motive in Casey’s case). LOTS more Evidence here, compared to Scott Peterson’s, and HE’s on Death Row.
