Casey Anthony: Parents Attend Funeral For Somer Thompson
According to various news reports, George and Cindy Anthony were among the thousands of people that attended the funeral for 7 year old Somer Thompson today.
From Examiner.com:
Somer, 7, went missing on Oct. 19 while walking home from school. In the early morning hours of Oct. 22, her lifeless body was found in a Georgia landfill.
According to WDBO, George and Cindy Anthony were seen walking into the public portion of the funeral service.

More than a thousand people attended Somer Thompson’s funeral today in Orange Park.
“Some familiar faces showed up to show their support,” WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Martie Salt said.
WFTV reporter Ryan Hughes noted that those attendees included George and Cindy Anthony, whose daughter, Casey, is charged with the first-degree murder of her daughter, Caylee. Mark Lunsford, the father of murdered Jessica Lunsford, also attended.

I really hope that Cindy and George do not receive any negative comments on their attendance by commenters because what good would it do.
On related post, I know there is contraversy on JT story, but one thins that I do not believe has been thought of is the fact that Casey may have gone thru automatic doors and if Caylee was 10 feet behind moving slowly, the doors may have automatically closed and if there is a possibility that Caylee was too small to trip the opening mechanism, then there is posibility that she really did push and push on the door trying to get it open. It may have opened for her

not open for very small children for their safety to not leave the permises without parent or adult accompanying them. Or else try to walk out on my hands and knees to see what happens

Sorry *One Op*, I have to say it— How “Noble” of The Anthonys. Once again, the Desire for Reeling-in something they want in order to Benefit themselves or their Daughter has given them Self-Gratification through another “Public Appearance”. Perhaps they did have Genuine Concern and Intentions in showing-up for Somer’s Funeral…. Unfortunately, due to their Misleading Track-History, not many People believe it. (By the way, I think your Ideas about Self-Investigating “Walmart” are Great! Can’t wait to hear what you “Uncover”!)

OneOP I do not believe JT because his statement said lunch time, cell phone pings at her at home. Walmart is to fall to ping on her home towers. Then his time changed to 4 pm still cell phone pings have her home til after 4 pm. She did not forget her phone at home because there was use of her phone at these times. There is only one set of doors at that Walmart none on the inside of the store as he claimed. That is where the other problem is, there is videos of the inside of that store in Feb08 and no inside doors like he spoke of and that was 6 months before Caylee went missing. He lied or he is completely confused on the dates. He seemed more worried about Casey’s breast then he was about Caylee. He even commented at Marnade Dave’s about how Caylee looked like him. He is a strange person, who says something like that. Not many men that I know would say such a think about a random child.

I hope the Anthony’s had genuine concern about Somer and that’s why they showed up for her funeral.
What were they doing while people were searching for her? Isn’t that their new ‘job’? To search for missing children?
I’m not certain of the timing, but I think they went out on a cruise vacation right after this little girl was reported missing. And not even on their ‘Caylee’ search and rescue fishing boat, but a luxury liner.
Sorry, but these folks have money for a cruise and for travel and lodging expenses for this little girl’s funeral…but no funds to show up and help search for her?
Just seems like another photo opportunity to me. When I see them travel at their own expense and trudge through mud and rain like everyone else who really gives a damn, then I’ll believe they are trying to find missing children.

Laura, For sure JT seemed to have his eyes totlly on one thing, so how could he be accurate about any other fact. Could he be Caylee’s dad??? No one else seems to be for sure.
Sophie, I think I will wait to hear if the parents of Somner have anything negative
to say about the Anthonys attending. If they found them sincere then it will not
bother me.

Low profile, that’s the best prescription for the A’s. A special card, flowers, and lots of prayers would be more powerful than an appearance due to the controversy at hand. Why draw their controversy into Somer’s tragedy and sorrow at this time?? True, it’s the media and public hype that singles out the A’s in a crowd. But THE ANTHONYS KNOW THIS!! So, be considerate and respectful, and stay low.
A personal appearance actually draws attention away from little Somer, although the A’s are trying to build a better image of themselves. That is why this appearance is more selfish than serving.

Does one really think that Somers parents have time to worry about the Anthonys and what all the goffy bloggers thought process is! The parents are burying their child for gods sake. Bloggers are trying to make this about the Anthonys. How sad! I think people really need to get a life. May these beautiful children rest in peace. The parents and grandprents Im sure are heart broken forever weather bloggers want to believe that or not!

jery~~I agree with you. This is about little Somer and not the Anthonys. I hope you don’t lump all bloggers in the ‘goofy’ category. There are some great bloggers and commenters out there who want justice. There are also bloggers who have uncovered important evidence and passed it on to law enforcement.
Don’t you think that the Anthonys, knowing alot of the focus would be on them, should have stayed at home? When Somer went missing, did Kidfinders and the Anthonys immediately go and help search?
I am sure that George and Cindy could have sent a generous donation and a nice letter to Somer’s family.
Had this been done quietly, we would not be mentioning their names here.

You said it well. Somer’s parents will be focused on Somer.
But all this blogging and media coverage about the Anthony’s attendence is not just with Somer’s parents in mind. If the president of the United States or Tim Miller attended, then it would be an honor. With the Anthonys being there, it is a different take; controversy and inpropriety follow the Anthonys, perhaps more as if OJ attended.
We could all just sit back and say nothing. I’m not for obscenity or name calling, but when something appears wrong, we fuss about it. We’re not out there picketing or throwing eggs. We’re just stating the obvious in a blog, in a discreet way. The main focus here is still Somer.

How does anyone know that Somer’s parents did not talk to the Anthonys
and invite them to come. Why take it upon ourselves to criticize when they
may be perfectly happy with each other. Again I think it is best to wait to see
if Somer’s parents have objection, not our place until then. Are the Somers
to be criticized if they did approve of the Anthonys being there.???? JOO

My middle daughter had problems at 15 and before and had to be put in a treatment center. With my experience, with unusual behavior it has to be addressed instead of swept under the rug!!!! i really enjoy your blog and read it all the time. take care and thank you!!!!!

Not a personal friend or family, As a matter of fact in a year, I have only seen
two who have commented that they know the Anthonys as friends. People butter them up somewhat to see if they will talk but haven’t seen them do it. Sad that there isn’t more balance in commenting, Most just have disgust for the whole family. As MD has stated, not likely Caylee would appreciate what is being said about her grandmother and grandfather but it is called “Justice for Caylee. It is a good thing you bloggers will not allow curse words or it probably would be horrible. Some say such nasty things out of one side of their mouth and then immediately state they will pray for them. I never knew God heard prayers with hate in the heart. Always thought we were supposed to ask ourselves to be cleansed of unkind thoughts before praying, but what do I know, nothing!! It is all called “opinion” and people have right to an opinion.

*Jery*… What the Title of this Post is about IS The Anthonys, so the Responses generated are naturally going to BE about The Anthonys, and— judging by the Comments here— you can see how their mere Presence at Somer’s Funeral has caused the “Distraction” from it, upon which your Disapproval of the Opinions written here was based. In other words, while you’re Right that an Innocent little Child was Buried and her Family is in Despair (and we’re not Forgetting that), Case-in-Point, the General Consensus shows how The Anthonys can turn something which SHOULDN’T be about them into turning the Spotlight on themselves. This is the Negative Effect they cause, and, among the Bloggers here, as well as in the midst of a Community mourning for a little Girl it knew, or knew-of, The Anthonys “Stole the Attention”— as they always manage to do. *Sophie*, *Ideas*, and *Snoopysleuth* Hit-the-Nail-on-the-Head…. We wouldn’t even be mentioning The Anthonys— and you wouldn’t be Upset that we are— if they themselves didn’t Ask for it.

OneOp, Though I sometimes disagree with you, I think you like to look at other angles and reasonings in situations.
I don’t think it’s fair conversation to say what Caylee would think about what people are saying now about her family. Would she be aware of goings on? Would she know what her mother did? Or why the grandparents couldn’t rescue her?

James Thompson is on the witness list for the state but that doesn’t mean he will be called to testify.
I do not find him credible. He added too may things on his statement that was not necessary, like cleavage which was very inappropriate.

On the matter of JT, just wanted to Add that, overall, I personally don’t find him Credible either.
It’s not the “Cleavage” thing being so Inappropriate (I mean, look at Lee Anthony’s Televised Deposition by Zenaida Gonzales’s Lawyer— Some People just don’t have enough Sense to be “Sophisticated” in certain Situations), but rather just his Obvious Adding and “Stretching” of stuff, which was Obvious. Seems more like someone just Itching to “Jump on the Bandwagon”. I’ll be Surprised if the State really needs him at all.

I agee with you on this. So easy to show up at a funeral or talk about it on the news, but much more effort to be out in the trenches.

ABSOLUTELY. When I read that one too, I was thinking that I Wish one of those Talk-Show Hosts would Ask The Anthonys exactly what it IS that they do in their so-called “Foundation”.
