Casey Anthony: DNA Mystery Could be a Break For the Defense

Thanks to Hal Boedeker (as always!) for another great post last night.

Being in California, I’m not able to keep up with the television news in Florida, but it seems that WKMG is continuing to deliver some pretty big updates on the case. Take a look at the information below (and PLEASE check out Hal’s blog) and let me know your thoughts on these developments.

From The TV Guy:

At 6 tonight, WKMG-Channel 6′s Tony Pipitone hinted something big was coming in his Casey Anthony reporting.“We have shown the FBI’s DNA test results to an expert in DNA forensics, and what she told us could be the biggest piece of evidence yet that could be used to raise doubts in jurors’ minds about whether Casey Anthony is really guilty,” Pipitone said.

At 11 tonight, Pipitone delivered again. It’s the story people will be discussing tomorrow.

Pipitone explained that a second piece of DNA was found on the duct tape on Caylee’s skull. “Neither shows traces of Caylee’s accused killer, her mother Casey,” Pipitone said.

The DNA expert confirmed to Pipitone that this second piece of DNA does not belong to Caylee, Casey, Casey’s parents or the FBI lab analyst.

“It could be the biggest break in the case for the defense,” Pipitone said.

I have never let go of the possibility that another person is involved in the murder
and placement of the remains of Caylee. In my mind this does not make Casey any less guilty. There is still one person who easily could have helped Casey, and
possibly that is why she sits smug, knowing eventually this will be brought out
and it may be the prosecution who leads us to it, not the defense.

Almost afraid to say anything anymore because of all the false reporting from the news, blogs, F.B.I.. Who do we beleive anymore. Maybe just wise to wait till trial.

  3. luvanrs Says:

In a previous posting on this site it was found that the other DNA belonged to an FBI forensic examiner who contaminated the duct tape while testing it. I agree though, too many stories, too many contradictions, too many mistakes. I hope this does not turn out like the OJ trial.

  4. vidkid Says:

A roll of duct tape will attract lots of debris / DNA from the time it gets from the store to the home, garage, kitchen, trunk, etc. Duct tape does not stay in a sterile environment…. you have to gather what you can, from what you have.

I think that its becoming more common to have conflicting stories as news hits people so fast and furious these days. Journalists, bloggers and television stations all try to be the first with the news and there is not as much fact checking as there used to be. I’m just happy that I provide stories for people to read and comment on, and not actually write the stories :)

We’ll see what happens when the trial actually begins and ALL of the evidence is presented.

  6. OneOp Says:

John, Do you read other blogs on this case?

  7. kreuzer33 Says:

    OneOp,

I read a couple (not on a frequent basis) but this case really isn’t the focus of my blog. I post stories on a large variety of topics. As for this case, it really struck a chord with me having a daughter who was born within a week of Caylee Anthony. Same age and all. I still can’t imagine anyone who would do harm to a child. So, it has been something that I have followed and post on quite often. But, I don’t really have much time to follow other blogs, except for a couple. Too busy enjoying life with the family :)

There are some good ones out there, but many are filled with insults and behavior that I really don’t like to participate in. Not just blogs on this case, but others. That’s another reason I try to keep mine clean. Just makes things much easier.

  8. OneOp Says:

Thanks John, I read a couple of blogs, have been on a couple, but because of
the behavior it is easy to loose interest, Even though the post may be excellent
it can be destroyed by insults and unpleasant language between a few who pull
it all off topic and people just give up trying to discuss the subject of the post.
Somehow you have managed to keep above all that. Thank goodness!

Kreuzer33, I agree with OneOp. I like to come here to get a more factual update and listen to what other people have to say on the subject without having read all of the insults that people sling at each other. Thanks for providing this forum.

Thanks to you both. I really wish I had the time to actually write a few posts, like you’ll find on other sites. But unfortunately, I don’t. I do like reading the stories on the news sites and posting them to at least start the discussion on the topic. Most people have a lot of great viewpoints, on both sides, and it’s always interesting to hear what everyone has to say. I have rarely had people who have been disrespectful and I’m very happy for this. I’ll try my best to keep things clean. If things ever change, I’ll try to catch it as early as possible. :)

Okay…. So…. The Duct Tape is NOT “Contaminated” NOW, as was just Reported a DAY ago????!!!! How can new DNA show-up on reportedly “Botched-up” Evidence??!! Overall, I have to Agree that everything released to the Public by the Media on this Case is Fast and Furious, merely “Bits and Pieces”, and Ever-Changing. I believe that alot of what we hear— the “Tidbits” from one time to the next— is produced for the Benefit of both sides of the Case (Prosecution and Defense) in their continuous efforts to “Get one Up” on the other, and Influence potential Jurors. It’s all a Big Game. This new Information, right on top of Yesterdays’, just goes to prove the Points made above by *111333*, *luvanrs*, *Vidkid*, and John. It’s just my Opinion, but I don’t Believe anyone else was responsible or assisted in Caylee’s death. From Day-One, Casey’s “Story” was full of Lies and Inconsistancies, and the mere Facts that she used a “Kidnapping” (Binding their Victims with “Duct Tape” is often and commonly done by Abductors, and would serve to make her Story “Believable”), both George and Cindy’s definite Suspicions of a Dead Body having been in the Car, and the various Items found with Caylee that were linked to their Home, are simply all too Incriminating. I also don’t think that Casey would spend one Minute sitting in Jail— let alone being Imprisoned all this time— without
“Snitching-out” the Person, or other Person, who either did it, or Helped her do it. As Selfish and Back-Stabbing as she is, there’s no way she’d “Take the Fall” alone. She “Made her Bed” by specifically Naming, and trying to Pin it on, only one Person— and that Person had nothing to do with it. That’s where she made her Mistake, and she IS Taking the Fall alone because no one else is out there to Seek-out, no one else had Motive, no one else Acted the way she did during that 30 Days, and her Lawyers are simply fighting for a “Life” Sentence rather than the Death Penalty. It’s a “Mystery” alright, as this Heading says. We’ll see what TOMMORROW’S
    “Bombshell” is!

  13. Joyce Wilson Says:

If Casey was innocent she would be screaming her bloody head off. She would take a lie detector test. She would want visits with her family and she would not be afraid of anything being recorded during her visits. She is as guilty as sin!!! Bollocks to Baez.

  14. luvanrs Says:

I agree..if someone else was involved, she would have ratted them out day 1 and not taken any of the heat on herself. She is way too self centered for this.

  15. OneOp Says:

Overall, Casey is guilty! She may still indicate another person. After all, she knows there would be no one who would want to “party” with her on the outside and right now all the publicity and millions of eyes on her most likely is most pleasing.

I doubt if she looks past the immediate and dwells on what is coming up with the DP. I believe she is drawing satisfaction from those who are in contact with her while she is in jail. She has an audience, regardless of why she has one and as far as I can see that is exactly what she thrived on before going there.

Party? The party part was the “attention” so if she is getting “attention” that just may be all she really wants. The need for freedom to party may not even enter her thoughts right now. Also, she may feel “safe” where she is. I think she is advised by her attorneys that they are going to find enough defect in the handling of the evidence that she will at least get a lesser sentence, so she waits for that. I only like to draw from all possibilities that come with a case like this. I sat and saw nothing but guilt in the OJ case, never suspecting the quirky “glove thing” to bring a not guilty, but you see they did not prove that the glove really fit, right before our eyes he made it “not fit!”

Yet he was in my estimation the ONLY one to have murdered Nicole and Ron.
