OJ Simpson’s Fate to Be Decided Friday
It is expected that former college and NFL legend O.J. Simpson could be handed a tough jail term tomorrow when he goes back to court for sentencing after being convicted of armed robbery and kidnapping.
From AFP:
Prosecutors have recommended 18-year sentences each for Simpson, 61, and his co-accused Clarence Stewart, 54, found guilty in October of 12 charges relating to an armed robbery of sports memorabilia at a Las Vegas hotel.
Simpson’s conviction came 13 years to the day after he was acquitted in an earlier trial of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ron Goldman.
Although kidnapping charges carry a maximum life sentence, observers believe Judge Jackie Glass will impose substantially lower the terms, in part because of Simpson’s age.
“Maximum possible sentences are rarely given in this country, even when it’s someone you don’t like, and the judge clearly doesn’t like O.J. Simpson,” said Laurie Levenson, a former federal prosecutor.
“If you step back from the crime, this was not the crime of the century. And you can’t sentence him as if he got off for murder.”
The Las Vegas jury found Simpson guilty of storming into a hotel room in September 2007 with a gang of gun-toting cohorts and seizing sports memorabilia from two dealers worth thousands of dollars.
Simpson, who did not testify during his three-week trial and has been in custody since his conviction, said in interviews after his arrest he had only been recovering personal items stolen from his trophy room, and said he was unaware that his cohorts were armed.

Give him 2 years max, with time severed. You have nothing to worry about from OJ, unless you have some of his mother picture and stuff, or dating his wife or ex-wife, when he’s paying her $6000.00 a month plus child support….

Alexlane, spare me. Are you stating that there is not one person in the arrest and trial process of ethical and moral fiber? If OJ is such a righteous person, why did he not go through the courts to recover his alleged belongings. Appropriately, he has now gone through the courts, and will pay for his (ignorant) actions in Las Vegas which has nothing to do with his trail 13 years ago.

It is unfortunate that this man is facing the rest of his life in prison. People are still upset about the murder case the he was found innocent of, so he has been followed since the day he walked out of the courthouse a free man. For the courts to threaten to sentence this man to prison for the rest of his life is nothing more than a poor tatic of vindication for the Brown and Goldman family. The two that were murdered was very unfortunate, but to make a person pay for a crime that was illogical for one person to commit is nothing more than a witch hunt.

You are the type who hates but dont realy understand it. I am outside of the U:S but followed the trail and like Alex said this is not what should take him to jail The judge said the jury should not sentence him for the ctime or the trail he was freed but that is what the jury has done they have to compesate or find a way to punish him for goldman and my prayers is to the goldmans to know that if he plotted for tyhis he will live to pay for it or his daughter or any of her children will pay for it some day

Adrian, you are cold and also very illiterate. The evidence is there for everyone to see as was the evidence 13 years ago. Only this time the jury was not intimidated, they made the right decision. OJ was a victim of his own doing. He thought he was invincible, transparent to the law. Now he can sit in prison and wonder how things could have been different when it all went wrong 13 years ago.
Don’t make it a black and white thing Adrian as it is quite obvious that if OJ was white you would not be posting on this site.

Regardless of what happened over a decade ago, OJ is obviously mentally ill and needs to be facilitated. (This has nothing to do with being white or black, only humane.) My heart goes out to his children who will never know the Godforsaken truth about their own father. Innocent or guilty, he has ruined lives and continues to do so.

OJ knew what he did was wrong – and there is no where in the US you can go and PULL A STUNT LIKE THE ONE HE DID!!!!! I say don’t cry now because you got caught with your hands in the cookie jar, you do the crime now do the time!!!!!!

Dave, Dortnair. You people must be living in the 1800’s. anyone with one real brain cell can see that this was a setup and a farce. You may want OJ to suffer for being ruled innoncent all those years ago. but this is not justice in any sence and if you are happy about this form of justice, you are just as rotten, mean spirited, biased and racist as can be. This whole thin is retribution and this is the same reason why our economy is failing because of ignorance like yours. if it were you in the same situation you would be on probation this is a joke and i hope you have enough decency to realize that this is wrong, morally and ethically.
