Bones Found in River Do Not Belong to Caylee Anthony

Once again, this is why we call initial reports…Rumors.

Florida police have stated that the bones found today in the search for Caylee Anthony do not belong to the missing 3 year old girl. The bags have been examined and police found no human bones, fingers or toes as Padilla claimed.

From the Associated Press:

Divers on Thursday found some sort of bag with toys and what appeared to be bones.

Investigators looked at the items to see if they were connected the case of Caylee Anthony, whose disappeared this summer.

But Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Solomons says the items are not related to Caylee’s disappearance.

Caylee hasn’t been seen since June. Her mother, Casey Anthony, did not report her missing until July. The mother has pleaded not guilty to murder, but the child’s body hasn’t been found.

From the Orlando Sentinel:

The lead investigator in the case of missing Caylee Marie said reports of bones at Jay Blanchard Park is “not a crime scene.”

Sgt. John Allen of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said “this is Leonard [Padilla's] operation.” He would not answer any questions dealing with the findings discovered by Padilla’s dive team.

Diver Todd Bosinski, who is part of bounty hunter Padilla’s dive team, showed a reporter some of the items found during the search in the Little Econ River, which included a plastic bag with beads and other trinkets. “I never said it was evidence,” Bosinski said.

He did not show the alleged bones, adding that the divers were not sure if they even found bones.

A sheriff’s official described what was discovered today as “found property.”

“There’s nothing to indicate it has anything to do with this case,” sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Angelo Nieves said.

Sheriff’s officials said they are upset at how Padilla handled the discovery, which drew large numbers of people around the search area.

“Law-enforcement should have been the first to be called and not the media,” sheriff’s office spokesman Capt. Angelo Nieves said. “At this point, we do not have credible information that would lead is to bring law-enforcement divers to this location.”

The bounty hunter was asked to take a lie detector test and he agreed. Padilla was seen getting into a sheriff’s cruiser with a deputy. Some of the people who gathered to watch the events cheered the bounty hunter. “Go, Leonard,” one said.

From Fox News:

Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Carlos Padilla (no relation to the bounty hunter) said police want Leonard Padilla to take a lie detector test, and he has agreed.

Carlos Padilla told FOXNews.com that the bounty hunter had informed police of his crew’s alleged discovery.

“This is of no evidentiary value,” the spokesman said after investigators examined the items.

Leonard Padilla initially claimed that divers combing the river around Blanchard Park discovered a plastic bag containing fingers and toes and weighted down with bricks, and another with stuffed animals inside on Thursday, according to WOFL’s Web site, MyFOXOrlando.com. The area was roped off.

A diving course director involved in the search, David Badali, told FOX News Channel’s Miami bureau that the bags found had bones, bricks, a green shamrock toy and another toy inside. He said they were discovered in 10 feet of water at about 1:30 p.m., the area has been declared a crime scene and the FBI was retrieving the items.

But Allen said no crime scene has been identified in the vicinity of the bounty hunter’s search.

Leonard Padilla said that the 30 to 40 divers conducting the search (which requires only five in the water at a time) are from a company called Blackwater Divers and specialize in scouring extremely dark areas. He characterized it as a recovery mission to find Caylee’s remains.

From The Criminal Report Daily:

According to a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, items which were recovered by Leonard Padilla’s dive team in the Little Econ River around Blanchard Park have “no evidentiary value” in the case of Casey Anthony and her missing 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony.

This afternoon the divers reported finding two separate bags in the river, which reportedly contained bones, and stuffed animals.

No word on why the items were there; however they do not appear to be related to the case.

Man, I’m interested to hear the result of the lie detector test. Surely Leonard wouldn’t agree to take it unless he was on the up and up? Or knew he could pass the test. I guess a person could practice with one of those things and get good at controlling their responses…
Dalia girl seemed most struck by the phrase ‘how much money we could make’ and Nancy Grace seemed to think it was a big slam against Leonard. But, then, Tim was going on to add that exactly what Leonard said would happen did happen, and it was -not- a media circus. As if that was the point that had been in contention. I’m confused.

Leonard didn’t even respond to the idea that he is seeking fame and fortune out of this. Well, you know, we may find him likable, but we knew from the first that he wanted to be the hero. And to make money. He is a bounty hunter, after all, not a detective, not a policeman nor a lawyer.

But my impression of him is that it’s the fame even more than the fortune that he wants. He loves the glory of getting the bad guys and rescuing the victims. And that’s not really a bad thing. We need a few heroes, even such human, fallible ones as him.

I really think that Padilla is doing a real good job, and Cindy needs to remember that he is the one that put up $50.000 for her nut-case daughter! I dont understand why the family treates him like shit. It’s pretty sad that the Anthony’s are treating him this way because if that were me or my family I would be working with him.not fighting.the anthony family is fool of lies.that is one of the reason that Lee’s girlfriend has left him so that the same thing dose’nt happen to her child. you go Padilla. can’t wait to see nancty grace tonight.
